She said in an interview for this that this song was not about any particular person, she was just walking in the hallway at school and she could hear a girl screaming at a guy on the phone and she went singing in her head "You're on the phone with your girlfriend, she's upset" and that's how she started the process for the song! This is the very first Taylor Swift song I ever heard, and I remember playing this music video on repeat back when I was 13/14 🥲 it makes me emotional every time I hear it because if that, and I definitely shed a tear when I heard it live at the Eras Tour this summer 😭 love that you’re listening to her older work, I’d love if you could react to songs like The story of us, our song, forever and always, white horse, sparks fly! Just a few suggestions 😁 also, you should check out her first true pop record, 1989! I’d suggest Blank Space, amazing writing and Shake it off, very fun but such clever writing to get her message through!
