I would read the handbook to give a clearer indication of what does what; this detracts from the fact is this is a super special guitar end of story. Owner of a T5z.

I noodled around with one in Guitar Center (Dallas) and decided I wanted one. It was a couple of years later that I got the Koa (and a Marshall A50D) and used them that night in a coffee house gig. I've been very happy with mine, and it is my "go-to" instrument. Now saving up for a matching 12-string. 🙂

When I saw Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath holding one of these guitars (black), I knew that it had to be a special guitar and I wanted one.

@@JorgeSalasGuitar I have many electrics and zero acoustic guitars. And I think that this would be a great one for me. Thanks

Side note.... the Epiphone 339 case is a perfect fit if you don't get a Taylor case. My T5z classic came with a Taylor gig bag.

I am a Taylor junkie. I love Taylor guitars and the brand in general. But one thing I can't help noticing is that I don't really see anybody playing these things.
@JorgeSalasGuitar2 жыл бұрын
Me too! Dude, this guitar is insanely amazing. I think the reason not a lot of people play them is the price point.
@jaytc32182 жыл бұрын
@@JorgeSalasGuitar I don’t even see artists playing them. There was the one exception of Christopher Cross playing one at NAMM about 10 years ago. Even then you could tell he didn’t look happy about playing it. Taylor makes great acoustic guitars. It’s probably best for everyone if they stick to that.
@JorgeSalasGuitar2 жыл бұрын
@@jaytc3218 I feel you! BUT have YOU played it and why care if you see others play it? I didn't get this cause I saw someone else play it. I happened to play one in Chicago then, years later, decided I wanted one and it is the first guitar I pick up every day.

Part of the reason you don't see a lot of these out there is that they hiss. A LOT. If you're going to play anything with gain, you NEED a gate or you better be quick with the volume knob. I had a first-run T5, which eventually gave way to a T5z, and both had this problem. While I had it, the T5 had no fewer than four different preamps in it as Taylor (to their credit) tried to resolve the issue, but, in the end, they finally had to admit that, yeah, that's what they do. I still have my T5z and I gig it regularly because it really is that good (especially after a Plek!), but I also have to run a gate in front of it, always.

The reason no one plays it is because it sounds VERY THIN. Imo its best used as ur practice guitar at home. Its the ultimate lounge guitar , with incredible playability

I have T5Z Pro. Plays great, sounds good - not amazing to me, but I enjoy it. I cannot get a humbucker/overdrive sound that I like. It works well live. I still alternate with some "regular" acoustics though live.
@JorgeSalasGuitar Жыл бұрын
Totally agree with you. It is difficult to get a fat humbucker sound maybe impossible.
@dancosgrove864510 ай бұрын
Good demo, but would have been nice to hear the humbuckers clean.

Very gig-able tones here. Convincing demo to anyone looking to go in this direction 🤙🏽 i currently use my Tele with an acoustic patch (Helix with piezo IRs) and it sounds just OK for acoustic - but of course it does the electric stuff perfect. So it’s a trade off.

Thank you. I do gig with these tones and recommend them for a live situation. I understand they are not for everyone tho! Thank you!

@@JorgeSalasGuitar Sorry Jorge, so this is a T5 ( my preferred one) and not a T5Z, which I understand is a smaller body than the T5, a minor thing but as I'm looking to buy one and prefer the full body T5 ( hopefully I might find a 'S' version somewhere) 👍

If you just played this without showing it and told me it was an acoustic I'd say GTFO. If you said it's a Les Paul I'd only wonder which model and what you're playing through. At the same time it can cross over either way for live, recording/songwriting, or just quiet enjoyment or practice. How could this be something I have not heard about before today? So I'm gonna go price it now and I'm ready to be a little shocked but this is the most interesting guitar I've seen in a long time. If it seems reasonable I'll save and get myself one for Christmas.

It’s how he set the bass& treble dials. Not the guitar but the adjustments the player chooses. That’s so for each of the 5 settings.
