Taylor Test Kit K-2006: Free and Combined Chlorine Test

How to accurately test free and combined chlorine using the Taylor K-2006 test kit. The results for this test will use a multiplier of 0.2 times the number of drops. The results will be in Parts Per Million (ppm).
Items used:
Tay R-0870-I DPD Powder (2 scoops in water sample)
Tay R-0871-C Chlorine Titration (Count drops until clear)
Tay R-0003-C DPD #3 (5 drops into the Free Chlorine sample)

In the last step to test combined chlorine, what if the solution turns clear and then a few seconds later turns pink again? Keep going until it stays clear?

Samir Chavi shock it. Bring the free chlorine up ten times the combined chlorine. In your case it would be be ten. You could go higher than that if you wanted to, but would probably need to wait longer to swim again.

Thx for the video .I've struggled with this chlorine test for a while and just now starting to get it down. What exactly is the proper PPM for say a 15,000 gallon in ground pool? Not commercial. Home owned. I know there's a difference between commercial and residential. We have had a lot of rain this year and had a yellow mustard algae out break. Under control, but Wondering if I've had my PPM wrong. Thx if you reply

I guess I did learn something. I learned that I don't want to use this test kit. That was why I watched the video, to see how easy it was to use. I expected him to explain why he was doing each thing. Since I don't have the kit, I don't know what he was talking about. I am guessing he was to put the number of drops in until the water turned clear and then multiply that by 2 but I was expecting more of an explaination. It seemed like a lot of steps to check on thing. I am guessing you go through something similar to check each of the other readings.

Pepper Derr it’s actually very easy. I own the same kit. You don’t do this every day. It takes me about 5 minutes once a week. It’s way more accurate than the strips or the drop kits.

You shouldn’t dip the vial in the water. Use a water bottle. Ur doing this the hard way

You also don’t need a level scoop. It’s not exact with the powder. Taylor makes this clear in their company video for this test

I like the trick he mentioned, which he learned straight from Taylor. Also, he is testing quickly this way, which is recommended in the manual.
