They never needed to. They were able to say controversial shit and win the audience back over.
@Rundvelt3 жыл бұрын
@Matias Martinez If she never lost them, then it's not controversial by definition. So you disagree with the OP. Second of all, what she said doesn't win the crowd back in light of her statements, it walks her statement back. Sort of like lessening her impact. Winning the crowd back is when you say something ridiculous, the crowd balks and then you pull them around to your side. Lastly, and you agree with me on this, her statements weren't controversial, which shows that part of her act is comment on the audience's "offense" as a way to drive her performance. Which is transparent as crap. I don't know why we hold women comedians to a lesser standard then male comedians. The best female comedians can't hold a light to the best male comedians.

This is comedic genius. It’s a turn on how some guys say “you know how they get when it’s about the time they get their period” about women. @onceonly1111 Жыл бұрын
@@boshengjones1778 allowance is financial control - There are men who earn the money in their family (or decide that they should), and so they say how much their wife is allowed to spend and when she gets it. It happened to my mother even though she had her own job - my dad would insist that it was his job to manage the family finances, and her job to take care of the kids, clean the house etc. If she wanted to do something like buy a new car, it had to be put in his name and would legally be one of his assets.

It's rare in comedy to make a joke about one's sincerely vulnerability. Usually, comedians make fun of some facade they have made for themselves and pretend it is still self-deprecating.

Some people often say female comedians aren't very good...my response is always to point them to Taylor as an example. She is a top tier example of a really good contemporary comedian, we're just too conditioned to be served mediocre or plain bad crap we're expected to like in the name of "diversity". It's always been the quality of the jokes and the delivery, not the gender, and she proves this beautifully.

@Messily don’t feel bad. I was the main caregiver in my marriage while my wife followed her employment dreams. I loved raising our three kids, best thing I ever did. I feel chronically ill around the same time we had our last kid, and my then wife divorced me as she didn’t want to spend the rest of her life with a chronically ill husband who not only raised the kids, but had also been working a full time job too doing night shifts. When I had to stop working due to my illness, she told me I was nothing more than a “glorified childminder” to her. During the divorce she thought she’d get the kids, but they all came with their disabled dad. I’m now a single dad still raising two of my kids (the eldest has struck out on his own) and I don’t have a single regret. The youngest two no longer have any contact with their mother by their own choice. Stay strong Messily, one day you’ll look back and realise the good job you’ve done, regardless of how difficult it is just now.❤
