As a Christian who tries to understand exactly what the Bible teaches, it disgusts me to see heavy burdens such as these, placed on us. The way the definition of lust is abused is just mind boggling. I hope the truth sets you free.
@Subin_Roy2 жыл бұрын
@Cardboard Cape Well people define lust from; thinking "wow, she's a beauty", to actively planning on how to have sex with the woman unlawfully(biblically speaking). The latter is lust. The former isn't. Even imagining what it would be like to have sex with a person isn't wrong as long as you wouldn't actually do it unlawfully. The proper definition of lust is given by Paul as basically coveting(desiring to possess, typically unlawfully, what is not yours) in Romans 7:7.
@A680612 жыл бұрын
@Cardboard Cape my church most DEFINITELY did! You can’t think about sex which includes being “attracted” to someone. And you HAVE NO PRIVACY. God knows all your thoughts. Thinking of sin is sinful- is how they phrase it, and it’s HORRIBLE. I blame my religious upbringing for my anxiety & sexual aversion. It made me “weird” like Taylor said. Sucks.
@z483gk2 жыл бұрын
@@A68061 I think religion is trying replace basic education and upbringing. It seems like they tried to solve a problem, that no matter what you tell to teenager, no matter what he tells you, you can't read his thoughts. And he can lie to you and do whatever he wants. So they made a rule, that god knows all your thoughts. So you wouldn't even think about things that elders don't want you to think. It really solves the problem usually, but aftereffects are anxiety and bad social skills. Elders don't care about that, as long as you did what they want while you were young, so they expect you to be the person they wanted you to be. They don't go through things that you will go through, like anxiety, low self-esteem, depression and etc. So, as adult, you constantly try to fight with those things, go to therapy, take pills and so on. You understand now, that there's no god, that always looks after you, it was just the method to affect you. But now you forced to fight with it till the gray hair. It is fucked up system, that has good intensions, but horrible aftereffects.
