Always thought the extreme body shapes look way cooler than the traditional shapes. Extreme shapes make me pay attention to the guitar players using them and the bands they’re in when I see local and national acts live. V’s in particular are actually pretty ergonomic for players that play in classical position, as a guitar player myself. V’s have been my favorite since seeing electric guitars for the first time, so it makes me happy that I find them comfortable.

I'm addicted to pointy guitars myself, and as such have dealt with the diving issue for ages. Apart from moving the strap button (which I'm unwilling to do to my guitars) the best solution I have found is to attach a small pouch to the body end of my strap with the industrial strength velcro (the grey stuff) and fill it with diving weights. Adapt. improvise. Overcome! I'm still on the hunt for a WRXMG myself. It has a fast neck as well as all of my favorites as far as hardware is concerned, and is extremely similar to my Ironbird Pro in playability.
@TaylorDanley3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that works too. I find if you use a heavy duty strap that usually resolves a lot of neck dive as well. If you don't already, check on my instagram... I'm working on something with a friend of mine that I think most pointy guitar enthusiasts will love!

I read or saw a video where a guy used weights that clip on wheels to balance tires . He put them in the control cavity. I forget the model guitar he had but he said a couple of those weights was all it took . I think he glued them in his but you could use Velcro or tape so it wouldn’t be permanent . I just thought that was a pretty good hack . I had a Iceman and I didn’t want to move the strap button for the longest eventually I got tired of the damn thing wanting to flip forward on me and moved it to treble horn if it had one LP style. I’ve never had a guitar nice enough to worry about an extra hole on the back

Question: I'm very VERY close to pulling the trigger on one of these and I need some things answered. I just returned my White JS32 Kelly that I bought for my birthday because literally everything that could go wrong with it went wrong. Out of the box the neck was literally U-shaped and sounded like it was cracking, the bobbins were the wrong color, the strap buttons were loose... etc. Literal fucking nightmare, but I really enjoyed the way it played and how the body felt and how it sounded, so here I am trying again. How are the strap buttons? My JS32's button screws were literally falling out of the holes from factory lol. I know its an easy fix but I'd rather not have the issue at all considering I have many guitars without the issue. How does the neck feel being painted? And how comfortable is it without the comfort cuts from a normal Kelly body?

@eamonahern74952 жыл бұрын
I used to have an epiphone explorer and, for me, it was more comfortable to play standing up than strat and super strat shapes because the shape and strap positions meant any neck dive could be easily negated. And I do like a high headstock playing position. That body shape is a handy rest for the right forearm too, thus preventing neck dive even further. I found leather straps the best for no slippage as well. I'm seriously considering investing in a Kelly and getting back into playing again. Partly because it's a similar shape to an explorer. Plus I want something with a Floyd if I do invest. My explorer didn't have a Floyd. It had a different bridge but it had a whammy bar, fine tuners and a retro fitted locking nut on the headstock just behind the traditional nut. One of the reasons I prefer passive pickups is you don't have any extra electronics to have to mess with. Your power chords sound a bit too sludgy and dissonant for my taste without the play along track. Almost as if your intonation is out. Either that or the pickups over distort the tone. Just one more thing. There's no guitar solo in that track you played along to. Don't you know it's a mortal sin to play metal without guitar solos?!

I absolutely love the Kelly shape but given my overspecific taste and hatred for tremolos my choice were pretty slim. I have the same exact one and I love it! You do have to get used to the way it hangs off of you. Especially if you're kind of chubby like me. I knew I was keeping it so I repositioned the strap button to the top of the horn and it hangs a lot better on me. It's a shred machine! And a little bit of advice for those folks that have so much trouble with the Floyd Rose special Bridges. Adam at FU Tone has a couple of KZbin videos on how to set these up properly. Go watch them, over and over again. Until you get it. Once you learn how to do it you'll never forget it, and it will save you hours and hours of frustration. The only reason you have tuning stability issues with these Bridges is because you have not set them up properly. Take a little time to learn a skill. It'll stick with you for a lifetime.
@TaylorDanley3 жыл бұрын
IME most of the time I have issues with tuning on a FR, or more specifically it not returning to 0, is because of aftermarket "noiseless" springs. The silicone they wrap the springs in gets caught between then and will slightly drop your tuning. Once I started using the official FR springs, that went away.

It's a nice guitar but it's like you said cause I bought in 2019 a js32 Rhoads in white with black and visually is so good looking but 3 months with the guitar and I traded it for an ibanez cause I can't play with extreme shapes for me I can't find comfort for my right hand and forearm. I sold that ibanez in February this year and honestly I kind of regret buying that Jackson in the first place. I should have bought a dinky instead.

Yeah it definitely is an acquired taste, and I totally understand why more people don’t use them. I prefer my Solar in terms of comfort just for that bevel and where my right arm sits, that helps a lot!
