Show of hands: who creates music more beautiful, heart felt, genuine and emotion packed than Home Free???? I agree -- NOBODY! I always enjoy your reactions. Thank you. And Thank You for your military service. You are much appreciated. People who have served, as you did, know the emotions of the story and how it impacts you, and I think the point of the song is to make non military people truly understand and empathize with those with first hand experience.

My husband fought in the Gulf war (Desert Storm/Desert Shield). Many came home sick, including my husband, it was called Gulf War Syndrome. We (in the U.S and Britain), have been fighting for answers since 1991. 1 Doctor who is in charge of figuring it out (in the U.S.), last week determined that it was Saran Gas (considered a WMD) . I pray the Veterans Administration will acknowledge this and give our and your guys and gals the help they need.

This song was originally written about the Vietnam war and a male soldier. The girl was the young piccolo player in the high school band. It was such a surprise that Home Free reversed the roles and it was the girl that was the soldier never coming home.

it broke my heart when you commented midway because i knew what was coming. i remember this song from when The Chicks (formerly Dixie Chicks) came out with it and cried then. home free reversed it so the woman was deployed versus the chicks where the young man was deployed. fun fact, both soldiers are actually veterans, i think the young woman is still active duty. home free hit another out of the park, this was their first video together after covid

This was originally done about the Vietnam war and a male vet. I liked that Home Free changed it up. The two actors were/are vets. So well done. Loved Chance singing with Austin in the beginning. Yes, it was a heart break. But still a lovely song. Thank you so much for your service. 😍😪

Thanks to all those among us who serve in the military. The rest of us are able to live our lives happy and free because of their willingness to sacrifice everything. They keep watch over us, they protect us, and they are truly the best of us. Heartfelt thanks to the veterans, and to those currently serving. We may not say it often enough, but you are truly never far from our minds. Or our hearts.

The two actors in the video were both veterans. The sad part was, she came home, but not as he would have liked. Original song was done by the Dixie Chicks, now known as the Chicks! Hope this info helps a little
@roberthudson19592 жыл бұрын
The song was written about the Vietnam War, long before personal computers and the Internet existed, which is why the two characters wrote letters to each other. That also means that the soldier was male in the original version. That makes the ending even more powerful, because the survivor was a teenager who lost her first crush to the war.
@rebeccagriffith55052 жыл бұрын
Originally a song about a Viet Nam soldier. The Dixie Chicks recorded it, the original artists, I believe. Masterful update with the lyrics to reflect the modern composition of our military. Home free scores, as usual.

Home Free is really good at picking songs that sometimes pull at our heartstrings and make us feel something. Their vocals add to that, as well. I have a few Home Free song suggestions. Some are upbeat and fun, and one is sweet (cover of Keith Urban’s “Blue Ain’t Your Cover”. The others are: a cover of the O’Jay’s “Love Train (includes some of their Patrons), a cover of Ed Sheeran’s “Castle On the Hill”, and last, but certainly not least, their cover of Blake Shelton and Trace Adkins’ “Hillbilly Bone”, which is really good time and has some funny stuff!

Oh boy, this is a tough one. Beautiful song, the harmonies are off the charts of course. This one brings me to tears every time knowing this is the experience for so many soldiers. A song that will stir up a lot of emotions around this time. Home Free sings it so beautifully. Because you can cover a song and sing it with the best voices, but what matters is that you also have to make a song feel. Home Free certainly succeeded I think it could change from a happy song to a sad song because of Rob's voice who has so much soul and emotion in his voice, which can touch you so deeply

Same. Dixie Chicks version is my favorite. I can only get through the first 10 seconds before I’m crying. God Bless all those who served and sacrificed everything for our freedom. My husband is an Army veteran (almost all the men in my family have been in different branches of the military), 2 tours (Iraq and Kuwait), even though he came back alive, the things he saw and experienced, he sacrificed everything and deals with those demons every day.

this is such a perfect song for everyone worldwide. bc regrdless of which side of a war you are fighting on people can relate to missing someone who is off fighting for what they believe is the right cause, they can relate to losing a loved one to war. grief is the same for everyone it rips at one's soul.
