Never apologize for being moved by music. And it IS a very pretty sounding piece. Their harmonies just add to the beauty, which makes that gut punch even harder. But I think that is part of the import of that song - the difference between the beauty of the music and the horrors of the story. They posted a video of this song that they filmed live a few years ago just the other day.

@wolfe62206 күн бұрын
There's a type of snare called a piccolo, it's higher pitched compared to a regular snare. Sort of the way a piccolo is similar to a flute, but higher pitched. I used to play trumpet a lot (something I have in common with Rupp, lol), and trumpets also come in a piccolo version, again higher pitched than a regular trumpet.

If you google the original lyrics you'll notice that they switch them around a bit to make them about a female soldier and match the video, like "Gave her order to a guy in a thin black tie" instead of "Gave his order to a girl with a bow in her hair". It's good that they don't follow stereotypes. This is such a beautiful (but sad) song and they matched it with their vocals perfectly. They are also really good to highlight the lyrics and story of a song, and without letting the music suffer from it, which is not an easy thing to do. Oftentimes, with others, it's difficult to realize what the song is about because the actual music overshadows it (at least for me). Thanks for the reaction.

I have Jillian-like tears every time I listen and watch this and I am not ashamed. I have read that the actors in this video are actual military personnel.
