I'm thinking of getting it, would suit the bulk of what I shoot, events, corporate, studio, school graduations etc. I doubt I would really need any other lens and the less changes during a shoot the better, or being able to keep it all on one camera body for most. @markglenday729110 ай бұрын
Hi Liam thanks for sharing this I enjoyed heaps, however I have a real dumb question, with the portraits indoors I noticed that the lighting was very orange and that you did not use a CTB gel on your flash, did you just drop your white balance down to about 3200K or some where around there because the color looked awesome, or were those images been edited? Thank you from Mark in Australia
@liamgoodvisuals10 ай бұрын
Not dumb at all! No gels on my flashes and no external flashes - just mindful of how I bounce flash and then mindful of how I edit those images. White balance on those is probably between 3000-4000
@markglenday729110 ай бұрын
@@liamgoodvisuals Hi Liam thanks for sharing I thought that you would have dropped the white balance to compensate for the orange lights, you are an amazing photographer
@robigerovasilisphotography9 ай бұрын
Liam your photos looked amazing..I noticed by the video the ambient light in the ceremony was very warm and yet your photos looked perfect light, white and bright. Did you set your white balance or were you using auto WB?
@liamgoodvisuals9 ай бұрын
auto white balance all day! then just tweaks in lightroom :)
@pronkt10 ай бұрын
For your shots during the ceremony, like the one at 25:27, how did you get the lighting to look so good in post without the use of a flash. The room lighting was very yellow but the picture has a clean white look to it. Was this achieved purely through lightroom or was there an off camera flash elsewhere in the room that I didn't notice?
@liamgoodvisuals10 ай бұрын
Oh great question! No external flash used, just really intentional and gradual adjustments in white balance and color (especially the orange and red sliders). Hope that helps :)

Liam, do you rely on eye autofocus throughout the day or single point af? Or something else?
@liamgoodvisuals10 ай бұрын
Almost always 3D tracking + eye/face detect. That said, I have my front function button set to toggle through focus modes if I need to change anything in a pinch. Something I love about the Z9/Z8 is you can actually *disable* focus modes you don’t need - so now my front function button allows me to scroll through 4 different focus modes rather than like 12 lol. This means that I can quickly go from auto area, to 3D tracking, to single point, all without having to open any menus.
@matterickson634510 ай бұрын
That disable focus mode feature sounds awesome. I’m on the Z5 and my autofocus misses quite a bit during a wedding day. I’m definitely getting the new tamron you were shooting with and thinking of upgrading to the Z8 or the rumored Z6III this year. Thanks again for the insight, cheers.

Im so confused.. I started backwards.. a few months ago i was using primes 35mm f1.8 and 85mm f1.8 for 90% of my photos on weddings and events... but since i got a 24-70mm f2.8 and 70-200mm f2.8 im using those almost entirely.. and only ever use the 85mm f1.8 for planned portraits pretty much.. but everything else im almost always with the 24-70 or 70-200.. or even both if im dual wielding cameras.. they're really heavy but they are so convenient tho.. Why is it that now i see everyone going with dual primes and no longer using zooms? but im now backwards? :(

I am surprised you aren’t using a diffuser on your flash. Any reason?
@liamgoodvisuals4 ай бұрын
I feel like most diffusers are sold because photographers often don't learn very good bounce flash techniques. diffusers would make very little difference for me since I primarily use walls/ceilings to effectively create a larger light source which is then softer on my subjects :) I also just don't like the size of diffusers and adding extra bulk. hope that helps!

Using faster glass will help you a lot, 1.4 primes are excellent getting less noise in your images but also maybe consider a flash with a good diffuser

Rp and z9 are not in the same ballpark. Use a r6 or r6ii and that grain vanishes. Ist just the body/sensor which shows its magic here.
