Hi, what focus area mode is used for this wedding, is it wide spot or zone?

Really debating selling my a7RV for this! Let me know if this is worth it fam! I’m mostly a photo first hybrid shooter, but global shutter benefits would be amazing!

Taylor thanks for the video. Wondering - is there a reason you’re using this over the samyang version? In the comparison video I believe you said you’d pick that one out of these two options. I’m considering both for purchase curious if something happened to make you change your mind.

Seems like a nice camcorder alternative. I've thought about getting that lens, but the stabilization in video mode still looks a bit jumpy. For stills, there isn't much contrast and it looks pretty soft to my eyes.

i would of preferred a 28-200mm f2.8-5.6 G2. maybe with built in VC

If you are really keen on range, set a custom button to slip your CR into APSC mode and get 450mm on the long end.

I went to Sony because of this lens now Nikon has it. I sold that Sony so fast and got the Z8 with the 105 f2.8 macro and 35-150 f2/2.8 perfect for my style.

Taylor, for me the key comparison would be against Tamron 35-150 if that would exist for Canon mount, which one would you pick?...you have been praising the Tannin for a long time, time to test your preferences

Zero lies detected! The Tamron Z 35-150 LIVES on my Z9/Z8. It's genuinely the best for anything (except Astro, I'll explain below if anyone cares, lol) -- but it absolutely changes the game for Weddings/events ✨️📸🙌🏽 **Astro "issues"** There's no "infinity" marker & the zoom ring goes 360°, so you never really nail critical focus (imo) & its super easy to bump it out of focus w/the slightest touch 😒 it's just frustrating. I TRIED to use the Tamron Lens Utility app to "program" what it thinks infinity to make the above somewhat more manageable...but it's very confusing/not straightforward process & then, I tried to update the firmware to access the said "Astro mode" & NONE of my USB-C cables worked 🙃 they absolutely shouldve being thunderbolts (via Macbook Pro using Tamron website). Tamron website says to use THEIR USB-C cable...but they dont link or sell them 🙄 & lastly, image quality. There's horrible vignetting & astigmatism when shooting astro wide-open. I have yet to test it stopped down & on my tracker...but best to avoid this lens for dedicated Astro. Everything else, tho, this lens excels at!

What is the standard wedding video you guys make? Is it 10 min of wedding Highlights and those interviews with closest family and friends? Or you make a longer video as well?
