The quick review - it's not 24mm, so it's not wide enough to replace my wide (usually a 20mm) lens on a wedding. And it's not long enough for my weddings to replace a 70-200. If I was a 24-70 2.8 photographer, I might consider this as a replacement for it. But the Tamron 35-150 fits better for me. Replaces long lens, while gives me something I can use most of the day. These are just my thoughts though, if the additional 7mm are really important to you, this Sigma might make sense.

I would sell a kidney for a SONY GM 24-150 2.0 - 2.8, no matter the weight.
@TaylorJacksonPhotoАй бұрын
@littleidols depends what part of the day and how noticeable it is. Getting ready, you probably don’t want to be doing 10 frame bursts haha
@PaulDavidPhotographyАй бұрын
A big part of the draw factor of 24-70s is how compact they are (at least how small the current generation of them are: the Sony GM ii, Sigma DG DN ii, Tamron 28-75 g2). It would be hard to justify a lens this size and weight as a replacement for an all-day lightweight zoom like the 24-70 f2.8
@frankfeng2701Ай бұрын
When it comes to zoom, Tamron really knows their target audience.

And at 35mm you get that f2.0 on the Tamron !

Great shots as usual Taylor, but I have to ask this question (without getting you in trouble of course) who is the better photographer, you or your wife and which one of you has been shooting longer. I think it’s outstanding that you get to do what you love with the one that you love. It seems like you dabble in video but she doesn’t or am I wrong?
@mrmonday42Ай бұрын
Thanks for the deep dive, I see what you mean about it not being wide enough to replace 2 lenses.

I’m genuinely excited about the possibility of purchasing this lens, likely by next year, although my budget is a bit tight. I really appreciate how you articulate the details; your explanations resonate with what I'm eager to learn. The 28mm focal length seems well-suited for my needs, unless I find myself in need of a true wide-angle lens, like a 16-35mm. As for the 105mm portion, it could present some challenges, but I believe I can manage the gap that comes with not having the full 200mm range. I think it would be wise to test the lens in person before making any final decisions. Ultimately, your real-world experiences may differ from mine, which could lead to varied results in certain situations. Since I focus on street and portrait photography, with most of my work done outdoors, I have plenty of room to adapt my approach. Thank you for your insights and for sharing those beautiful wedding photos!

the thing I've appreciated the most of this video is the way you have post produced the pictures. That's something I've never really learnt

The biggest issue with this lens that it doesn't solve most people's needs... (having 2 lens instead of 3 so you can run with 2 camera bodies without switching lenses), with this 28-105 you will still need a 16-35 and also a 70-200, meanwhile with the Tamron 35-150 you only need a 16-35 and you good to go with 2 camera bodies. And on the top of that, you get a 35 f2 prime-ish lens for low light scenarios. Tamron is just a way better option! (the reason I got it and paired it with a 16-35 GM). The only way people could go with one lens if any of the brands would make a 24-135 or 24-150 f2.8. 24mm is what I consider wide enough for most scenarios and 135mm is the "shortest" telephoto focal length you need to see that nice compression and bokeh, but I prefer 150-200-ish range.
@TomNguyenАй бұрын
Agreed. I also own the Tamron 35-150mm, and it's stuck on my camera 99% of the time. If I bring a 24mm/1.4 prime in my pocket, then I've got a range of 24-225mm (if I use crop on my 60MP sensor--more than enough) for most needs. The Sigma 24-105 is a "neither-here-nor-there"-lens to me.

I personally use the Tamron 17-28mm if i know im gonna need to go wider, and than the Sigma 28-105mm - basically im getting 17-105mm f/2.8 between 2 lenses. I think thats pretty ideal

Great review and really good topic to cover. I had been considering going over to the 28-105 f/2.8 even losing the f/2 at the wide end and the extra reach solely for the extra wideness. It’s not as compelling as I was considering but maybe if Sony releases a true 24-105 f/2.8, the 24 wideness will be enough to get me to switch.

I’ve been primarily Sony/canon since 2020 for any jobs I need to do video for since they record video to two card slots simultaneously. I still shoot with Nikon for photo only jobs when I can but it’s hard to keep a full kit now

I received this lens and was excited. I still reach for my 24-105 F4 coz i need it the wider focal length. And still use the 70-200 2.8 GM. But if i was shooting an outdoor event, this is a good lens.

it makes ZERO sense to pay for "premium" flash units anymore. they don't perform any better and often deliver less light quality/output. I've had my ad200pro(s) (and other godox flash units/triggers) for years and they perform perfectly and have lasted for years now. The new units and triggers are exceptional. profoto and leica are only a name brand imo. (the ONE thing that I do like about the profoto units is that they are essentially the only ones that can be used with an iphone (which wouldn't be a professional choice, obv, but I just appreciate the gimmick:) anyway, great video. no hate. only love:) keep clickin

I’ve had a fair number of issues with godox stuff, but it’s cheap enough to just replace which is nice. I’ve also seen a lot of issues with the profoto transmitter pins getting bent for Sony
