I think the adjustability works for tour players who strike with ultimate consistency's and hit the same spot on the club religiously. For everyone else it's going to be too inconsistent to really establish a strike and spin pattern one day to the next. You can get fitted today and swing totally differently tomorrow.

Adjustability is always nice, but I think its an extra $100 here in Canada. The M6 numbers seem super solid and you can still have some slight adjustability in the hossel. Plus I think I prefer the look of the M6. Paired with a lower spin shaft and it could be a winner. I expected more of a difference in the weight shift to be honest. I like the fact you include ALL swings on your tests James, unlike some youtubers that cherry pick swings in order to make the club's they're reviewing look better than they actually are. Fair play to you. Enjoy the trip, the weather looks great, certainly better than we're having at the moment.

It makes a huge difference. Part of the idea is to reduce spin and adjust the weighting to suit your swing. Brilliant if you want to eliminate one side of the course if you have a slice or a hook by moving the weights. The Taylormade M5 driver is a work of art and sounds and feels incredible, especially with the project x 70 HZRDUS Smoke stiff shaft

I'm an old slow swinging hacker, and the weight positions on my F6 plus driver make a big difference, I go with the weight in the back and use a prolaunch red low spin shaft.

Great review! As good a swing as you have, especially as compared to most of your mere mortal viewers, the main takeaway for me is...... There is enough variation from swing to swing for 90% of us that it's hard to know for sure exactly how much of an effect moving the weights can have. It does have an effect though! That said, your lowest spinning shots WERE with the weight forward! You had 2 shots come in under 2200rpm! You didn't have anything under 2483rpm with the weights back! It's clear it does have an affect. I know that the variation from shot to shot makes it hard to quantify. But it is there in the numbers, even with just 5 shots in each setting, if you look hard enough! This is what I saw when I was fitted for the M3/TS3. There was a range of numbers to be sure.....but a pattern does emerge over time! Thanks James!

You need an high HCP assistant !! more single-blind testing (you shouldn’t know the settings) and averaging few more shots to see trends

ok i actually got fitted today to a M5 as I’ve tried Ping M6 Callaway Titleist Cobra and ended up with the M5 once out doors as it gave me the best numbers in all areas and yes we changed shafts weights to lower my spin rate from 3000 plus back to 2450 and just below Interesting though the best fairway woods were Titleist along with a hybrid after trying all brands then going to the range outside to actually hit and see were it was going flight height etc Yes i might not hit them as i did today tomorrow but after spending time like 6 hrs finding the right fit this it what come out of it and I’m Happy so really who cares but me

James, yes it is a test I would do. no not to me it is not worth the difference. Personally, I am fine with the " noise" not being good. Any feel or sound to help me know what I have done wrong is good information. Also, looks bad when someone says good shot, and it isn't, and you say that!

You should have tried it with the weight in the position you were holding it at the end of your review. Not sure why your spin rate was so high, I use the fujikura atmos black and after 15 hits my average spin rate was 1900. Thanks for all your reviews.

I think just for the adjustability factor, although making only a minor difference on this test, getting the M5 would be better than the non-adjustable version M6. What went whacky with the spin rate on those shots 4-5 vs 2-3 on the forward setting? That is too big a difference to be explained by human factors. Something happened to the club or the tee height?

How heavy is the head and what % are the weights. Is the M6 the equivalent of both weights back?. I have the M1(17). Ive tried it with no weights, too light and loose distance. Both weights at the back which is ok but have settled with front weight slightly toey and back weight in the middle. It feels more solid than the M4 but that may also be down to shafts. Performance is similar for me, 139mph ball speed and 240 yards. Im trying to reduce fade arc which is around 12 meters ave.

Whats ur attack angle? Swing up 4 degrees and use a 9 or lower loft u will see 285 plus carry and prolly 2k spin

I think that the test would be more fair and meaningful if you did not know where the weights were when shooting and only found out afterwards. As you were expecting weight forwards to be worse, maybe just maybe that’s why you got that?

If your fiddling about to get get a nice flight and dial you're driver in then I'm sure it makes a little difference ,if you carve one in to the woods on the first tee and ball is never seen again then no club head or hosel setting is going to stop that ,it's just a terrible shot .James send a bit of that weather back home will you .

Try changing out the actual weights in the head and see what it does. Get the kit and see how much changing the swing weight effects it going lighter and then heavier to the 13.5 grams

Lead tape can be used to increase swing weight but lead tape alone won't have a significant impact on CG location, which is what the moveable weights try to accomplish.
