I’ve been lucky enough to try this club, feels really good in hand and some of the trackman results backed up the development. Not sure about the price though, let’s get players back onto the course not trying to earn money to pay for it

There seems to be a misconception that they put speedfoam in the drivers this time. My understanding is that the material in question is a resin designed to make the face less hot! According to TaylorMade all M5 and M6 drivers would be too hot and too fast without the resin and would therefore be illegal. TaylorMade is claiming they are measuring how hot the face is on each individual driver head and adding the exact amount of resin needed to bring all of the drivers to precisely barely legal! Hard to believe they’re going to put that much work into each individual head.... but that’s the claim! So that’s what the”everyone gets faster” claim really means! It used to be that only the tour guys had their heads checked for how hot they were. They got the best ones. Now, supposedly, we’re all going to get equally hot heads! I’ll believe it when people test this claim and validate it. I’m 100% for this development, though, if it’s legit!

But the question is James , “ is it faster ?” That’s the what marketing says , so is it ? After seeing many reviews so far and including yours, doesn’t look like it to me. As well, your numbers are better with the TS3. The last 2 years it’s been TWIST FACE and FASTER and to me neither works as far as I can see
@S.forbes5 жыл бұрын
Yeah completely agree, we all know the driver is gonna be good but the question that needed answering is " Is it faster than previous models" i feel like James seemed to gloss over that question 🤔 Plus he didn't really explain the reason for the resin being injected into the head. Very vanilla/generic review.

It's almost exhausting trying to keep up with the Taylormade product roll-outs. It's like what ever you buy this week is going to be out dated next week. I know that's an exaggeration....but not a crazy exaggeration. That said, I'd play that driver all day long. At least until next week when the M7 comes out.

Nice review James. One thing I do like about M 6 driver is there are plenty of good options. Such as Type D and plenty of shafts to choose from. There is no way being a senior I am going to smack the ball 271 yards like you but its nice to know the options available. Some of that info would be a nice addition. Peace my friend. Spider Dubiel

The screws are just another gimmick in a long line. My cousin's son at Auburn, sank the winning putt to beat Alabama in the SEC Tournament and then anchored them at East Lake. He was using a PingG400 and was talked into the TM. He couldn't hit a fairway, and lost distance from the Ping. So, back he went to the Ping, but has been testing, but not using yet, a PXG driver. Your time frame is a bit off. Are you in the business? Doesn't sound like it.

Great review! You know, what’s funny? The new M6 looks like a cross between the new Cobra F9 “Speedback” and the Wilson Triton driver’s graphics. Doesn’t it? It’s all TaylorMade on the crown, though! Lol! The overall effect is certainly less classy than the M5 but still a very nice looking club. I love that TaylorMade finally did away with the two-tone look on the crown! Performance is king regardless! If these new drivers deliver the goods on off center hits these could well be their best selling drivers in years! Looking forward to all the on course tests to follow!

Hey James, is it basically a lock that TM will update the m6 and m5 irons in January of 2020? Or might this be a time where the M6 is pretty close to being so good that an "m8" or big shift away from it would not happen next season? Maybe they release an updated M6 instead? Your thoughts?

A test against your beloved M3 would be good. I'm guessing the M5 andM6 are around the £499 mark. How much can you pick up an M3 for now.? I would guess around £200 less Are these £200 worth better? I doubt it. But if you have a spare £499 and feel the need to have the latest equipment crack on. Where does it all end? At the end of the day a lot depends on the pilot.

@chrismayor51475 жыл бұрын
James, the difference is extremely small. Imagine you were the average golfer on the national average wage. Tell me honestly, would you change a 2 year old driver say for this at £500? If you answered yes, which I would seriously doubt , then imagine you are married with 2 children. Same question? Isn't the average golf handicap about 20 for men? Sure it will be going up when handicaps are allowed past 28. Too much money for too little difference in my opinion. Taylor Made and Callaway do my head in. Every year, 2 more drivers, proclaiming all sorts. Yet test show very little dispersion improvement or distance. " oh look at that, 2 yards longer than the ......". If you are not straight that is 2 yards deeper in the rough, woods, now made the water instead of coming up short.
@micklees69675 жыл бұрын
Not a bad review. However having already watched Rick Shields it wasn't as good. He compared with M3/4 to see the difference. Basic point was not worth updating but it did give an extra 3/4 yards, so worth buying. Also since the strap line is 'we all get faster' the main point was ball speed off the face wasn't faster for him and it would of been nice to see how it compared for you. All the best.

Sorry but they don't seem like original designs, the M6 looks like the new f9 speedback from cobra. The M5 switched the track around that looks just like the cortex early designs before switching to a single track. Really to me the only new tech here is the speed foam, which while it works in the irons, I'm not sold on it yet.
@richardsdiaz15 жыл бұрын
Bob Stanko I don’t think it’s speedfoam this time. I think it’s a resin designed to make the face less hot. My understanding is that all M5 and M6 drivers would be too hot and too fast without the resin and would therefore be illegal. TaylorMade is claiming they are measuring how hot the face is on each individual driver head and adding the exact amount of resin needed to bring all of the drivers to precisely barely legal. Hard to believe they’re going to put that much work into each individual head.... but that’s the claim! So that’s what everyone gets faster means! Used to be only the tour guys had their heads checked for how hot they were. They got the best ones. Now, supposedly, we’re all going to get equally hot heads!
@bobstanko12135 жыл бұрын
@@richardsdiaz1 I don't doubt it, so speed foam is the wrong word, based on testing thought it seems to not produce faster speeds than previous models. Seems like the foam has dampened it too much. Honestly if this is something that they are trying to adjust per head, maybe it should be more of a custom fit option in the future. Obviously that would involve a much more involved process and much higher cost to produce and fit. Probably unfeasible, but could completely redefine the fitting process and be much more tour-like experience, such as the hot melt and injections some company's do for their tour pro's.
@richardsdiaz15 жыл бұрын
Bob Stanko I’m all for more options! I’d want an M5 with the hottest face they ever produced....and an easily removable screw so I can take a heat gun to that resin!!! 😝

@SearchBucket25 жыл бұрын
Hold on. Was not COR limited to a maximum by the golfing authorities years ago, so they must be selling a myth? Is this not simply a driver made expensive by sports car styling? I've also noticed over the years the shaft length of drivers had slowly crept up. I wonder if every millimeter is needed to increase those stats by centimeters? If you have money to burn I guess you wouldn't care? Next they'll be saying every driver in the M-Series go to Germany to be "tuned" ... lol
