This box set covers my attempt to circumnavigate the Island of Skye by inflatable boat. In this episode I manage to get to the Island of Skye after a difficult start and delay at Loch Na Droma Buidhe

I wasted no time in watching your video, and again was delighted, the views and your narration were excellent. Plus you have given me a new hobby i intend to take up, taking a tin of beer for a walk sounds like something i could do regularly.

Lol..yup..I confess .. I love taking tins of beer for a walk.. but not much of the tins content get back from the walk though :-D

love Scotland! What a boating/campers dream not to mention hiking etc & rich history, as for me I intend to keep boating until I pass on or become unable, I to enjoy the solace & privacy as I live in an overpopulated city setting thankfully not far from water! 😉

Stunning footage Donny, the Cuillins are on my list of places to float to
@donnywilcox2 жыл бұрын
Hey careful Scott..there is no plural to Cuillin mountains .. but its a common error and I used to think it was Cuillins too until a local corrected me .. Just some useless info :-D
@kerny20912 жыл бұрын
Stunning scenery and the footage is top notch the reflections of the mountains and cliffs on the water are outstanding, the camera you are using must have cost you a small fortune Donny but certainly well worth it 👌 Cant wait for you to "TICK" part 3 off. 😉👍

Its a great past time Jim..and the beauty of taking the beer for a walk is..you dont need to pich up crap like you do taking a dog a walk..although I do confess to talking crap if I walk too far with too many tins :-D

Spectacular Donny, really enjoyable to watch the filming, editing and narration as well as the seamanship. Not visited Prince Charlies cave but have been into Spar Cave which is not too far from it. I nice traverse along the rocks, round the point and then up the beach. Looking forward to part III of this boxed set, Arisaig a place I know of old and where my parents would take us for the last week of our holidays when I was but a young un.

You will recognise the latest video then Alicatt as is Arisaig Area. Spar cave is something else too..I have a video of it somewhere if you have not seen it :-D

Awesome video again. I thoroughly enjoy all your adventures and in fact it has driven me to move my own boat up to Scotland next year to explore. Thank you and keep up the great work!

Good choise of location for your boat James.. always a sheltered side to every island too so can use the moat most days even when windy :-D

Great video. Stunning cinematography. I too hope to spend some time in that area when time allows.
@donnywilcox2 жыл бұрын
Its a great area Gary ..but as you can imagine..you have to pick a good weather window as it can get very rough out the islands. Enjoy your visit when you go :-D

Another great video Donny! Thank you! Recent subscriber here, and so happy I came across your channel by chance...via a comment on Aquaholic's channel. I have a SIB and will be trying to emulate some of your trips soon. Used to sail the West Coast every year, since 1961, so I am of your vintage! Happy with inland areas of sea lochs, and live near Loch Lomond, but I like to see that on some of your trips you have a pal in another boat cruising with you, which is a great safety feature, and comforting especially in poor weather. Looking forward to many more videos, and meantime I thank you for your amazing content, filming and sound.

Thanks for subscribing Colin ..its appreciated. Yup..I enjoy company but hopefully am experienced enough to enjoy my own company too .. I have done it for too many years to take unnecessary risks... I hope. Enjoy the videos :-D

What a stunning episode! So accomplished are you at seamanship, filming, editing and narrating. A little tip from me: I keep my pin number in my address record on my phone. Not the actual number, as it is dispersed in a much longer number and I know which of the numbers is my pin.
@donnywilcox2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Brian..once bitten twice remembered..I have the number in quite a few places now. So I guess next time..I will forget the card :-D

PS I am reminded of the involvement of "Tex" Geddes with Gavin Maxwell in the whale oil production failure, following which he bought Soay in about 1952 or thereabouts...the venture failed, but he is commemorated by a memorial on the island.
@donnywilcox2 жыл бұрын
Hi again Colin..yup..I was aware of Tex Geddes although he was not as famous as Maxwell. I believe there are only two permanent residents left on Soay..but I could see there were quite a few summer visitors there when I passed :-D
@colinritchie15102 жыл бұрын
@@donnywilcox I suppose it's a sign of age, but there are a couple of characters I remember well from my younger days. One was the redoubtable Irene McLachlan of Ardinamir Bay, who always had advice for those about to traverse Cuan Sound. On Canna, I met John Lorne Campbell, the Laird and his American wife...I had afternoon tea at their house a couple of times, and he brought us some crabs he had caught, handing them over as a simple gift, shyly but with real warmth. I see Loch Drumbuie is a favourite place for you, and it was for my father too. My sister lives further up Loch Sunart, near Resipole, and it's a grand place to launch a SIB and do some exploring. Let me know if/when you are in Loch Sunart again and I'll make sure you have a warm bed for the night and a splendid meal or two!

Have you not got contactless bank card Donny up to £100 with out Pin 👍
@donnywilcox2 жыл бұрын
I think that was my problem Margaret.. it is contactless ..so I wasnt using the PIN number enough to remember it. (It was the same numer for 25 years) I dint like using it once I knew I forgot the number ... as every so often Im asked to put the PIN in ..its random times but kowing my luck..I would have a tank full of fuel then asked for the PIN :-0
