6:53 That's actually my theory (and a lot of others'). I think the new airbenders are descendants of airbenders that escaped the genocide and went into hiding. Korra opening the portals likely triggered the bending genes since airbending is so closely tied to spirituality.

I feel like you can see how Korra has grown on these two episodes, how she spoke to the new airbender guy on the bridge to calm him down and how she insisted they give Kai a chance cause he needs guidance, she’s more humble and wiser now ❤ Ps. Team avatar are all teens around 16-18

I forgot where I heard it, but the new Airbenders are related to the old Airbenders who had a suppressor their bending during the war

Yea I think I read that the reason they were only in the earth nation bc during a war (maybe), the air and earth nations intermingled, which left suppressed air genes.

You guys are in for a ride! The best book in Korra and for me even the best in general in the whole Avatar universe. This book is fantastic in every way from villains to story and most importantly the battles. The choreography of the bending will be the best you ever experienced!
