Once again a great episode Andrew. Really appreciate the extended discussion on your mindset regarding the camera settings and importantly the reasoning behind them. I know your Tassie workshops will be awesome ...!!!

Thanks Richard, as a photographer yourself you know there's no magic to it but I think it's helpful to explain the why so others can pick up the reasoning behind each setting. Both Andrew and I are really looking forward to the workshop, cheers mate! 😀

Great information as always Andrew. Really enjoyed the images too. The colours were great as was the mood. I also loved the perspective from the raised position. Thanks for showing me some more of Tasmania. I really need to see it with my own eyes!!

Another great video Andrew! Really appreciate your attention to detail and going through how you setup each shot. I am especially drawn to waterfalls, and long exposure. And getting that "sweet" spot in both focal length, as well as shutter speed is always a good math problem...lol. I think, just for the points you brought out, filters are a must...at least the CP. Keep up the great work! It's on my bucket list to go to Australia and do a workshop with you, along with Ben too. Cheers

Hi Andrew. What a beautiful place Tasmania is. There's no doubt that photographing waterfalls presents a real challenge but it looks like you've cracked it as your images prove ! Thanks for sharing this with us Andrew. Really enjoyable.

Nice to see a bit more sponsorship for you. Great intro with the ferns and the explanations to camera; I think your ‘falling snows’ experiences match my 40+ temperatures. The final landscape image gets my star this episode. Thanks for the share, cheers.

Always enjoy waterfall images Andrew. I've set a few trips to central NY to capture some larger ones in our region. Always great tips. Safe travels.

Thanks Andrew for another great video. I love the mix of drone and stills to get a feel for the location. The finished shots reminds me of the the post production video you did in the Scottish highlands with vivid greens and a dark feel to the surroundings. It really gives the feeling of mystery. The only tiny tiny issue I have with watching your videos is the lip sync. It’s really off when played on the KZbin app. Perhaps it’s my system but I feel it’s worth a note. I really would love to be at one of your workshops but it’s a little too far for me to pop over from Spain. I hope the workshop goes well.

Hi Andrew. Once again a great video. Can I ask you a question? When you set up your camera for long exposure shots do you do set it up in Manual Mode or Aperture Priority Mode?
@MattSchulze5 жыл бұрын
Is there any benefit to dialing in the desired shutterspeed in shutter priority mode and let the camera work out the aperture and ISO and then correcting with filters?

Great images Andrew. In terms of the viewing platform, were you restricted as to where you could go or was it physical landscape that prevented an opportunity for a different perspective?
@Andrew_marr5 жыл бұрын
Cheers Jim, I didn't explain that well, did I. It was the physical landscape that was preventing us from going anywhere else. we looked for other paths that would take us to another spot along the gorge but there weren't any. We would have needed to abseil down the side if we were going to get to the bottom. Shame, it was a lovely location and a shot from the base of the gorge would have been nice! :)

Looks to be a complicated location to compose? However you captured those images very well👌 You are definitely a wizard on the exposure triangle 👍
@Andrew_marr5 жыл бұрын
Cheers Eltin, yeah quite restrictive but the at least there was a platform where we could set up a tripod.

Tasmania looks amazing......I'll probably never make it over though. I live in the UK so a bit of a way off Haha great video

Nice one :) Ive still got mixed feelings about this place... not quite as exciting as the other falls we hit up on the trip but then again they did have their own unique feel to them... and you really can't go wrong with a Tassie waterfall. How's the knee btw?? ;)

Hi Andrew, have you got ISO set to auto on this video? I see a lot of transitional change as you move the camera around and auto ISO is the only thing I can think of. By the way, love your channel, keep up the great content, you're killing it mate 👌

didn't you try to shoot this waterfall with your drone with this long shutter speed?

Very good video. Loads of useful information for those of us who wonder about settings and such. Would love to go to Tasmania but it’s quite a way from the southeastern United States.

I still don’t get why top shelf photographers use zooms. I’ve got the 24-70 and frankly my 50 1.8g renders a sharper and better image at mid apertures. I’ve got the 20 and 24 and both are superior to the zoom. I know zooms are handy (and heavy) but if you see that 24 is the length you need then why not stick a Prime on. They weigh so little you wouldn’t now there in your bag and not that expensive especially pre loved. I guess I’m missing something.
@Andrew_marr5 жыл бұрын
I can see your point, that would be fine for that location, however, I wasn't to know that until I got there. I suppose my point is, I'd have to carry a lot of primes to have any reasonable cover between the focal length I typically use 17 - 200+ So for me it's just a matter of flexibility and convenience. Thanks for sharing your point of view.

Might need to take abseiling gear on the return trip. The shots from down in those ferns would have been stupendous.
