Am a big fan of TBIP and am always eagerly checking up on what's new. Vishal Bharadwaj's interview today was an absolute treat. His interviews are very rare and loved how Pragya explored his psyche as a artist and his approach towards his craft. Very intelligent interviewing, very insightful and pure joy !! This endeavor deserves a huge applause......especially when compared to the usual Bollywood interviews which are about what pranks are played on the sets/ who is 'good friends' with whom/ who they would like to have a gay encounter with etc..... Would love to see Pragya interviewing Gulzar, Shyam Benegal (before we lose these gems) and of the current lot Konkana sen sharma, Amir Khan, Nasseruddin Shah, ImTiaz Ali, Rekha Bharadwaj, Amit Trivedi, Vidya balan and many more .....................

At about 58:28 the interviewer asks a question about the moral universe of Vishal Bhardwaj' s stories that how different his moral universe was from the moral universe of Shakespeare which was very much in tune with Victorian time. Shakespeare wrote in Elizabethan Era when Victorian time was still away by about three centuries...

Absolutely brilliant interview. Thank you for doing this and uploading it. It is apparent the amount of conflict and emotions that is going on inside Vishal. It is also interesting to hear his views on cinematographers, editors and basically anyone who interacts with the creative aspects of his films. He wants all of them to leave him alone. I hope he goes on to make the kind of cinema that he loves and does not need to justify it to anyone. It takes special skill to take great literary work and interpret it in modern context and that's where he was at his best. Matru and Kaminey which may be so called original were really sad films. Hope he has some great years ahead of him because Indian cinema needs him.

A very honest interview. Vishal mentioned the influence of Polish director Krzystof (prounced as kristofer) Kieslowski on his mental make-up. I wish if Vishal should come to Poland to make some nice quiet movie a la Kieslowski. Dr Surender Bhutani Warsaw (Poland)

Take a bow, TBIP. You guy's make the best kind of interviews unlike most bollywood websites.Would appreciate it if you could put out content more often.

Also wanted to add..........when Vishal talked about no political films made in India. I'd like to mention the 1976 Marathi film Sinhasan written by Vijay Tendulkar and directed by Jabbar Patel. It did not have any sub-scripts of romance and was purely about politics and was a hugely impactful film much appreciated by Marathi audiences.

Vishal says in the end that he wants to explore Kiewslowski by making quiet films, extraordinary conflict in an ordinary life etc., but I thought Kiewslowski was already explored by creating the pink buffalo, an equivalent of "the watcher" from Decalog..

Wait. Sajid Khan?
@rahulandrdb10 жыл бұрын
Devarsi Ghosh Although Sajid Khan is bad filmmaker, he is a film buff and has great sense of humor (although that doesn't reflect in his movies). It would be fun for sure.
