Not entirely due to Kevin's fault, our interview wandered around a lot, with more focus on sports than brain injury symptomotology. That was partially due to technical problems we were having with the filming, but also because I wanted to explore Kevin's cognitive strengths when we were talking about sports. However, such rambling, logorrheic conversation did make it difficult to cover our core list of topics. Before Kevin's concentration completely collapsed, I turned to frontal lobe issues.
I'm going to try to get us back on focus here. Do you have trouble focusing?
I don't think so.

my TBI was 9 months ago. Motorcycle accident. While I am not as severe as this survivor, like you, this is incredibly hard to deal with and fight through. Never knowing is so hard.

I definitely struggle with both. It's very difficult to plan anything and it's another issue to execute those plans. Toss in the difficulty with my memory it's a pretty defeating thing to deal with.

In a nutshell, a frontal lobe injury makes you feel stupid just STUPID!! sorry for saying that,but that's what it really is, this is what I have been dealing with the last 7 years since I've had it, slowness in processing new information, finding it hard to learn anything new and understanding others and their speech. I can't even save up a song in my mind, that sucks! It's like you are in a state where you body is there but your soul somewhere out of touch.

@@brigittebeltran6701its nice to be hopefull but it cant repair itself from eaverything. I have traumatic encephalopathy syndrome and frontal lobe damage and im taking multiple medications to slow the degeneration, but it doesnt do anything it's like i can litterally feel myself gettung dumber and dumber and diminish more and more daily. I wish your grandson improves and all the best. i'd imagine his injury in a way is not as complicated as mine. Suprised i stayed focused long enough to compose this to be honest. But yes point being there are some degree's that can be improved and there's cases like mine where the doctors up front and tell's you right now theres sadly nothing they can do and that's just the truth.

When being assessed with a head injury/mTBI, why do doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, and neurologists testing cannot seem to differentiate between frontal lobe damage, PCS and ADHD? I can see the frontal lobe damage on my MRI with my skull fracture, doctors said my symptoms are ADHD, I don’t understand why they are misdiagnosing my mTBI🤕

Does anyone know of weed usage correlates with how young you are and how it can damage the frontal lobe? I seem to be experiencing some of the symptoms this man has (albeit not as severe) but definitely to a point where it's noticeable. Sometimes I zone out mid convo and completely forget what we are talking about. I also have trouble remembering certain words(also in mid convo) that I have known for years. I'm 16 and have been smoking daily for about 9 months. I quit a few days ago because I have noticed a significant decline in my memory function.

Same here bro , it’s just the sad part that you have to stop smoking weed even though the feelings are quite great but if you want a better life for yourself . It’s best to quit and do some meditation . And take it seriously . Weed or any type of smoke affects your brain & nerves especially at a young age . I’m young myself but had to find out the hard way . Now I have to deal with decisions that I made in my past . But for every dark night there’s a brighter day. Stay safe and healthy my brother .
@lostways8196

cannabis cannot do that. if you really think its what your smoking, the cannabis is likely treated with bad pesticides and fungicides that contain chemicals like eagle 20 that turn into cyanide when combusted. they are cheap and crooked growers use it. be careful. weed itself wont do this tho, after my strokes i smoked to get off meds, i smoke a gram of 85% oil a day, but i dont take pain pills. no ill effects, in fact some strains aid me in thinking more clearly and getting up and out.

I had a frontal lobe injury as a 6 year old had to get surgery to have some brain matter removed and can barely remember my childhood. My mom had to get me a journal as a kid just to keep memories and photos. It's really hard to live with this. Yes I can function but it's really hard at times. There are headaches I get that are really painful. Most jobs won't hire me. My husband has to care for me which is difficult on him too. Maybe I'm better off dead.

I was born in B-More City in 1997. I was in a car accident a month before I turned 19 and woke up from a coma in a neurological rehabilitation center. I broke all of my long bones and had bleeding in my right frontal lobe. Living is so hard. My doctors are trying to get me off the meds. When they do, I am going to get addicted to heroin. I know it. I am 22 and I know that is how I will die within 5 years. I should not have survived

A PILLAR OF HOPE Manaka the same type of situation happened with me aswell but went a bit differently. me and a few of my cousins were playing tag in the basement when we were kids, I tried catching up too one of them but I ended up running straight into a pole. I think it fractured half of my skull, I didn't get it looked at or anything till this day but I think my prefrontal cortex or lobe.

When he's asked to come up with an example, whether he is able to or not is what the doctors are trying to figure out. People with frontal lobe damage can recall that they're having difficulties but can't recall a specific example. Because forming ideas is a role that the frontal lobes, he's actually very absent minded without realizing it.
@dissdad8744

I don't think that the doctor 's intention is to belittle or ridicule the patient. He needs to ask the questions in order to a) get the an idea of the patient's situation and b) make observations about the way he answers them for additional information. The doctor is not judging the patient, but trying to diagnose his current condition.

The amygdala has a larger role of emotion which is apart of the Limbic system deep in the medial temporal lobes. A larger role of the frontal lobes is inhibition of emotions and behaviors.

Improvements in cognition require an overall intact brain. Lesions, injuries and disruptions in the brain result in various problems that are not caused by the mindset or attitude of the affected person, but by the organic damage that persists in their central nervous system. CBT tries to correct the mindset and attitude of people, but in people with physical damage to the brain, it's not a question of mindset and attitude to begin with!
