A day before International Women's Day, themed INSPIRE INCLUSION - we host a discussion Forum highlighting women affected by TB and female providers.
“Gender is a key social determinant of tuberculosis (TB) influencing susceptibility to TB disease, access to healthcare, and treatment outcomes. Addressing gender disparities in TB is essential to improve health and to reduce transmission, caregiving burden, household economic pressure, and stigma for persons of all genders and all ages”.
While two-thirds of people with TB globally count for men, women generally face additional barriers to care access and greater stigma and psychosocial consequences of TB disease. In addition, women health workers make up 70 percent and 90 percent of the front-line health workforce.
In this Friday Forum, we explore the experiences of women with TB, female providers and those managing gender-sensitive TB programs to better understand lessons learned about social protection in the private health sector.
