Little Women has been out since 1868, lol. The Shining is newer, but still, 1977. This is a S3 episode, so it was first aired in 1997. That's 20 years AFTER The Shining. Not to mention, there's a popular Shining movie that came out, so you don't even need to have read the book. Watching the movie is enough. Now, I understand that there may be young(er) people out there who have been meaning to read either of these books, but if you're truly so adamant about not wanting either of these books spoiled for you, then it's up to you to avoid a TV-episode where they are being featured in. But after so many years, most people just don't give a shit anymore.
