This review helped me so much. See I am trying to form a punk band, and i can't find anyone to play bass, so i basically want to take the white stripes route. And How hear the note jump around gives me what i want from a pedal like this. It feels like it is giving life to a nonexistent member that is there. Thank you so much for this review .

Good demo, I like the way you return to clean/dry occasionally to help illustrate the range of the octave 1 and 2 controls. Also the clean and fuzz demos were informative. Seems that with the dry signal off and either octave full up, that the resultant output level is relatively low/weak (or maybe KZbin compression plays a part)? Anyway, I will soon find out myself, there is a pedal on its way to me.

Just ordered this pedal new for under £34 delivered (~€38/US$43) 👍. Given the likely number of times it will be used, I could not justify the Boss pedals at three times the cost. The EHX POG seems to be very good - it should be at nearly six times the cost of the Nether!

I had an idea the other day: TC electronic also released a boost pedal (The Rush), could you maybe do a video with that pedal and how it reacts to all the other fuzz/drive/distortion pedals in the new TC line of pedals? I'd be curious if it sounds better than running one overdrive in another
@60CycleHumcast6 жыл бұрын
I had the rush in from the first release of the Smorgasbord of tone line, we ended up giving it away in a contest so its not around anymore. but yes, you can use a boost to change the drive level of a dirt pedal stacked after it.

Which pedals from the TC line do you think i'll need to get that sound? He also played in Bare Wires which sounds similar to what kind of sound i want to get. Thanks in advance, i hope i'm not draining your energy with all these questions haha!

I have this pedal and I have to say that I'm not completly content with it. The tone is great, but the note detection is pretty lacking, especially when playing on the higher strings. You need to pick the B and e strings very hard to get it to register the notes.

Clever name and logo. "Nether" is the underworld in Minecraft, and the typeface borrows from the "Stranger Things" logo. The Nether ~= The Upside-Down. A sub-octave pedal adds LOW octaves, sending your tone to the underworld. Get it? Well played TC.

Any idea how this compares to the Mooer Tender Octaver Mk II? That seemed like the one I was going to go for, but this is a fair bit cheaper and sounds pretty reasonable. Basically what I want to use it for is for high clean parts where I'm playing broken chords - on recordings I like to double up with another part lower down and I want to emulate this live to give the clean parts more presence. I occasionally do the same thing with lead parts too. It's only occasional so if I can avoid paying too much that would be nice.
@60CycleHumcast6 жыл бұрын
no idea, but i imagine the mooer one will be much smaller, these have a pretty big footprint.
@SaxJockey5 жыл бұрын
@Andy Eyre Thanks for this insight. Presumably the Nether can be set to roughly unity input/output by adjustment of the three level controls? Is the octave full up (dry and sub full off) any good for simple one note bass lines (adding a 'bass' to a looper track). Apart from overdrive in my amp, for occasional use I have a Fuzz, Wah and Flanger pedals; guess the Nether will sound pretty wild in front of any/all of those! Edit: Now have this pedal. The dry signal is nice and clean/transparent, so could be used as boost. As in this demo, the sound from just the octave or/and sub octave alone (dry signal turned down) is quite low level, so not ideal for use for bass lines.

@SaxJockey5 жыл бұрын
I just bought this pedal, I see what you mean. All my other true bypass pedals have a switch that has a firm click down to operate, this has a soft click which takes a bit of getting use to.
@Jeremy-ob4gm5 жыл бұрын
SaxJockey it’s weird. Next time you’re messing with it click down and don’t let go. You’ll notice the effect doesn’t activate until you let go. Just takes a little getting used to for a live setting.
@SaxJockey5 жыл бұрын
@@Jeremy-ob4gm That's exactly what threw me; soft click down and the effect comes on when the switch releases back up. Had a play around and getting more used to the pedal, 3-12-3 on the sub-dry-octave sounds good. Adds a bit of extra flavour running into a Wah or/and Flanger. The dry signal alone can serve as a clean boost.

@m.f.33475 жыл бұрын
For me, the tracking is fine down to the 3rd fret on the A string (or 8th on the E). It completely craps out below the open A. Generally speaking you want to play higher up on the neck. You don't just turn it on and play, you have to play what it likes to hear/respond to - you're basically playing the pedal. That said, the tone is absolutely fantastic. It's my bread-and-butter synth tone (which I spice up with fuzz, filters, delay, ringmod etc.). Just mute the dry and 2nd octave, and max the 1st octave.
