I like videos like this. I buy a lot on TCG player but the problem I find is if I find a card at a good price from a reputable seller, the other cards I want seem to be overpriced to me.

I honestly don't worry about them being reputable, bc if they don't send the correct quality or quantity, they must fix it or tcgplayer won't pay them , I trust tcgplayer to handle it for me if the seller don't deliver what they listed. The sellers always do me right and if they don't tcgplayer customer support always got my back. For example I had got an empty envelope the other day and I got a full refund , I got the wrong quality the other day and I got to keep the wrong card and got the correct card sent to me for no cost Never lost buying on tcgplayer Just make sure you check each order as they come , for quality and quantity, and contact seller immediately if there is an issue

Legit video! Love TCG player sight for singles, even when I have trouble with a purchase they always fix it and hook it up. I recently bought evolutions reverse holo and holo charizards and received two reverse holos by accident! They sent me the holo and I got to keep both reverse holos, was pretty pumped.

I'm not sure what the algorithm is for ratings but I've recently had to give negative reviews (because improperly shipped items and bad communication) and they haven't show up for those sellers yet. One of them even laughed off my complaint.

One thing I've learned is also don't be afraid of shipping buying in bulk. If someone who has $.99 shipping has 10 cards you want that's only $.10 per card. If they're $.50 below the free shipping that saves you $4 for example

Idk man I usually agree with you . But everyone has to start somewhere I mean take a person like me for example. Buy huge rip packs huge get nice pulls know what I’m doing and talking about . Probably would give a cheaper price , yet I would be new on the site if I chose to start to sell . If you recommend to never buy from a new seller how will they ever prosper ? But if you rather give your money to a big box established store that’s your obligation,I just beg to differ . That being said i appreciate the video I understand where your coming from but if the person has a picture of the item in detail with a name a date in some paper I’d go for it . I wish near mint also included visually centered and without a clear visible printer line(s). Pack fresh is the same to me -- even pack fresh cards can disappointing. If you buy the cards to play the game it doesn't matter. If you buy the cards to toss into a binder for memories, it probably doesn't matter either. If you buy cards as a serious collector -- IT MATTERS.

Great video. As someone who buys cards all the time on TCG player this is amazing but it did sting to hear you say skip over sellers with no reviews and little to no sales. That is understandable advice to buyers but as new seller on TCGplayer that doesn't have any reviews and very little sales, can you offer any advice of things I can do to be taken more seriously? I think this topic would even make a wonderful video topic and help out those of us who are who aspire to start an online business selling pokemon cards!

Completely disagree with you on the "avoiding new sellers with a 10 ft pole" advice. I personally love new sellers, and I've honestly had more bad experiences buying from "reputable" sellers. Higher volume means more room for mistakes, and a much higher risk of cutting corners. I've bought many cards from new sellers, and to date I've only once had to get a refund due to not receiving the card. I've had numerous issues with bigger sellers. I know with a new seller, it can take up to 3 weeks from their first sale before you'll see any rating level. I've also had to leave a negative rating and feedback for a couple of bigger sellers, and they still have 100% positive feedback. I think TCG pads and protects their ratings if they're a large volume seller and they make TCG a lot of money.

I understand the hesitancy to buy from people who have had very few sales, but some of those people are new to the game and trying to break into the industry and start a small business. After doing so myself I find that giving those sellers a chance goes a long way to making them verified sellers. If you only buy from sellers who have thousands of sales you're really only feeding into the idea that those sellers are the only reputable ones on TCGPlayer, when they were also in the shoes of new sellers at one point. If other people hadn't given them a chance and strictly followed the advice in this video those businesses would never have grown. I'm not saying to disregard everything that's said in this video, but try your best to analyze the data presented and make wise decisions when purchasing from a seller who only has a few sales. It doesn't have to be a big purchase, but it can go a long way in helping that business grow over the long term.

It could be yes. But I have also known people to get poor ratings and start new accounts and such. Also, it’s one of those things that is just better safe than sorry. Reputation matters, doesn’t mean new sellers are bad. Just why take any risk at all…
