In my opinion, Eiji Oue is the bes conductor. He has an "I love this music so much" face and he's very enthusiastic, unlike european conductors, who look like they hate to be conducting and think the musicians are awful, not all of them, but generally

Think about this, Tchaiscovsky was a beloved composer, writing from the events of history around him, tormented but creative and accepting of himself. THIS was his magnum opus. Lady Gaga, a "sensation" who has only now lasted a few years, is neurotic, self doubting, angsty, and still fails at controlling her direction while giving overblown societal commentary. Bad Romance is her best song. Nobeau Uematsu, John Williams, and those like him are the true populist musicians of this era.

@Jinxed44 Well, I don't know about length of pieces (though I do find it difficult to *just* listen to a piece without having something else to do at the same time), but I agree there are too many smug classical music listeners. It's one of the main reasons I stopped listening for such a long time, because I didn't want to be that sort of person. Thankfully I later got into it of my own accord. I can enjoy other genres of music as well; I just love them in different ways.

@bender0502 I play at the youth orchestra in my city. Been playing for almost 5 years. Saying he's the best was just a subjective expression, it's my opinion, as my comment clearly stated. C'mon! It begined with: ''IN MY OPINION'' I'm no expert but I do prefer conductors that have a lot of enthusiasm and expression. I know Bernstein, Dudamel, Karajan, etc. It's just that I prefer Oue.

@darthteej1 You can't really compare the lenght of some artist's career today with people that lived 100 years ago... anyways.. And neither can you judge the way an artist decides to ''orient'' his career. Classical music is not for everyone you know, some people simply don't like it . As for myself, I respect Lady Gaga. ACCORDING TO YOU, bad romance is her best song but that's nothing but an opinion you know... I just hate it when classical music lovers diss other kinds of music
