Heard this just a few weeks ago thr first time and now can´t stop listening. From the weird intro that is ways ahead of its time to the delicate Scherzo it is just fascinating. What then follows is one of the emotionally deepest and shattering pieces of all music. Tschaikowsky was quite something. And the young musicians are doing a terrific job.

This was Tchaikovsky’s favorite piece

So stylish, the way the editing cuts straight to black at the end, I thought. It emphasizes the audio over the visual, despite the excellent quality of the latter. Props to Festival Mozaic. Props to the players. I was deeply moved.

I can't believe I'm the first to comment on this lovely performance. Tchaikovsky's 2nd quartet, like his 2nd piano concerto, seems to be unfairly neglected. Among its many points of interest, the second movement has a rhythm of two measures of 6/8 followed by one of 9/8, giving the feeling of 7/4 with triplet eighths. Bravo to all the performers--and to the audience, who clearly enjoyed it.
