You are correct - Tchaikovsky IS a genius… his music is timeless. When he came to America in 1891 - after inaugurating (and conducting in) Carnegie Hall - he later stayed in Taos, New Mexico; his hosts took him out to the pueblo one night to experience the Indians dancing. My take is: that's when he looked up and really saw the stars… and he made his peace with death. He died two years later… but his music is timeless.

Why do people think that people would have been limited to hearing this by wealth? Sheet music was very popular, and many middle class families learned to play instruments. There was this thing called a "culture" back then, and most people were involved in it. 10,000 people saw one of Handel's performances in London, open-air public concerts were put on all the time, and there was music in people's homes. Apparently good taste isn't the only thing that died - people's imaginations too.

I don't think you know how long I've been looking for this song. I keep hearing it while I'm half-asleep but I had no way to Google for it and now I've found it, now I can sleep in peace knowing the name

Quando ouço Tchaikovsky, eu e tudo o mais ao meu redor se desprende e dança, dança, dança...o mundo acaba e tudo vira sonho, espaço, estrelas, música!

wanna hear something weird? im sure you all do. ever since my best friend introduced me to classical music, i listened to it more and more, more than i did/do lana del rey, who used to be my favorite music artist (now its tchaikovsky), and the more i listen to classical music, the better i get at math. i listened to it so much, im better at math than english (more than likely, clearly shown here in this comment sorry)

alannah dalton What if you lisen too much classical music, your Math skills will be godlike and you wont be able to speak english anymore :O?

It's a subconscious response. Listening to classical music often gives people (especually young people) a feeling of intellectual superiority, which can improve your confidence in your problem solving skills. (Yes, your confidence does influence your performance when solving problems.)

WongsNoodlez Seriously dude. I am studying for a test right now... but WHAT THE FACK IS WRONG WITH OUR SOCIETY. WHY ARE GRADES SO MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN LEARNING ITSELF. ITS PURE EVIL! ITS SCREWED UP. WE HAVE TO WAKE UP!!! THEY MAKE IT ALL ABOUT THE GRADES NOT ABOUT LEARNING.
@WongsNoodlez10 жыл бұрын
choi young Yeah I hate the way the school system works.
@demonnogo10 жыл бұрын
choi young Exactly. School is no longer about learning. It's about making us compete against others because that's just the way our society wants us to be. Whatever happened to learning just for knowledge? They're making it all about learning a damn letter.
@SooBeautyFull10 жыл бұрын
choi young Chil out. How is anyone going to predict how much you know without judging off of a system AKA grades? Just learn, study, and try your best to make good grades..it's not THAT hard.
