TCL CSOT Wows Inkjet Printing Foldable OLED Display

TSCL CSOT has shown non-folding versions of their 65" inkjet printed OLED TV in the past, but at DisplayWeek, they showed a folding vesion. The technology was developed in partnership with J-OLED, but J-OLED has some financial issues. We had a chance to speak with CSOT CEO Zhao Jun about this issue. He said that their development work is now done and all IP issues have been ironed out between J-OLED and CSOT, so J-OLED's financial situation will not be a big concern regarding commercialization. Other factors like cost, yield and the state of the TV market (not good right now) are more important factors. He also noted that the new phosphorescent blue OLED material from UDC could become available next year and he has a whole team dedicated to integrating this into their production line, presumably for ink jet printed OLEDs as well as traditional shadow mask depostion.
