Bruce Walker is a good friend for many years and you are the best interviewer! Love this video! We've been working with TCL's management for us to become a factory direct dealer and to hopefully put the QM8 in our August 3rd, 2024 TV Shootout® Evaluation event.

Brian, TCL has never been in my list of TVs to look at, but now I'm going have to research all of their offerings. I'd like to thank both you and FOMO for the work you do for us! I do have to wonder how well TCL supports the independent repair techs and TV owners. A great product is only great if it is also easily repairable. Yes I am in the equipment repair business. Welding equipment. Thankfully the brands that I work on are not 100% full of corporate greed. They want their customers to succeed with the machines they design and build.

I was going to buy and upgrade my older 2015 TV this year but now (reluctantly, because I really want a new TV ) I'm waiting for a 2025 TCL which I'm hoping will be using the new MediaTek Pentonic 800 chip which will finally have full 48Gbs bandwidth, 4x 2.1a HDMI ports and much better AI upscaling for lower bit rate codecs to improve image quality which should hopefully make macro blocking obsolete or at least so much better and less noticeable. The new Pentonic 800 chip has support for WiFi 6e and WiFi 7 & support for VRR 165Hz up from 144Hz so the upgrade will be big, enough to make me wait until next year's TVs.

What a great interview!! 🎉 I’ve researched big tcl TVs extensively after getting moms a 75” Q750 2023. My next tv will be an 85” QM8 or 98” Qm7/8🎉. Only non OLED tv that compares is the Bravia 9. But I can get a 98” tcl plus an 85” QM8 for the same price as an 85” B9! Lol. 🎉

@@MattyDaddy14 yeah, I'm sometimes bummed I got married to Sony so much as my 85"x90L goes with my PlayStation 5 and hta5000 Sony soundbar surround well, but their prices are kind of ridiculous. They're quality products and push new tech forward quite a bit, but by no means miles better than a lot of these other far less expensive brands that are starting to compete heavily. Sony will probably have to start dropping their prices significantly with TCL, Hisense, etc giving us much more of a bargain for quality products.

Hi Brian, another great review, TCL may be great in USA but in the UK TCL customer services is useless, they cannot tell you what new TV,s they are selling, I asked them about the 115" TV, and the person I spoke to did not even know they where selling that 115" TV, so may be Bruce needs to sort out there customer services

43:16 "Gamers use a monitor and not a TV" The prices on the 4K120hz HDR monitors changed all that, in the span of a few short years we went from a premium monitor costing well below $1,000 to all of a sudden costing $2,000-$3,000. The price of high end monitors convinced me to get an LG C1 as soon as those came out, and now the QM8 is my most anticipated display of 2024.

Hi Brian, great interview! I love your channel, keep up the good work. I'm wondering, is TCL bringing next year 8K mini-led TVs at a more affordable price? Thanks!
@Whyred1003 ай бұрын
Thanks for the interview Brian, but I didn't enjoy it like the others you've done as this, to me, seems more like a sales pitch - rather then discussing actual pros and cons about their tech (cons being buggy OS/software/doubious data collection, lacking proper motion handling for sports/fast paced content and still sub-par processing for less than pristine 4K/1080p content). Maybe the upcoming MediaTek Pentonic 800/1000 chip in 2025/26 will improve upon these mentioned issues, or perhaps not - time will tell I suppose. Unfortunately you didn't touch on or ask any critical questions/points, as you've done in the past in other interviews - like with Rob Brennan from Sony. Btw, didn't you have one more upcoming interview with Rob before he left Sony for Epson? Or has that interview been caned due to conflict of interest, as Rob no longer works for Sony? Can you shed some light on this - thanks? Just some constructive criticism from me, but do keep up the fine work like you do Brian 💪😊.

Ive seen Rob B and Chirag etc.. both great guys and love to hear them talk a out their products. Bruce however has that certain level of energy and enthusiasm that a product guy.. TVs especially need.. there is nothing better than information coupled with energy/enthusiasm. Tcl being vertically integrated is also a huge factor in their success.. Seeing the 24 qm8 improve their algorithm compared to the 23 model... is proof that they listen to the people and the reviewers of TVs.

I just had the new qm8 85 inch TV delivered and set up by the Geek Squad. It is very impressive. Unfortunately there is a bug that is requiring them to exchange it. When you turn on the TV, the sound comes through the home theater system, but there is no picture. That can be remedied by disconnecting power from the QM8 for several seconds and then reconnecting. The problem is that has to be done every time in order to get a picture. Otherwise the screen remains black. Dimming zone issue? Panel? I have no idea, but a new one is coming in a few days.

TCL have good picture quality It's just too thick no go when you hang it on the wall if you want the TV look flat like some of the Samsung Neo QLED or even OLED that's what TV should be all about manufacturers started making thick TVs I don't know why
@bartus883 ай бұрын
I'd much rather have a thick tv than a thin one. It's better for heat dissipation (which mean better longevity) and allows for better built-in audio. Also makes them more sturdy in case you ever have to move it from one house to the next. So it's a mostly matter of personal preference, although everyone would benefit from the better longevity of a thicker tv.
