I have tried all of these solutions and I'm glad it worked for most of you but none of them worked for me. It was actually working last night and then just went black. No audio no screen. When it shuts down you can see the TCL logo flash for a split second and then that's it. Reset button doesn't work, unplugging it doesn't work, doing the press home 5 times and then up and then rewind twice and fast forward twice didn't work. I unplugged all cables. Didn't work. I guess my TV is fried

The issue is probably the LED strips that don't work anymore. That was the issue on mine. I will attempt to fix it based on a video I watched on KZbin. Flash a flashlight with the TV on if you see a dim image that works with your input then that's probably the issue. Another thing you can and should check for is bad backlighting if you know your tv is getting power and you can hear menu/power off sounds. The way to do this is to hold a bright flashlight to the screen to see if you can make out the picture. I had the backlights go out on my TCL Roku TV about a year ago and this is how I diagnosed it then. I’m handy so I was able to replace the backlight LED strips in about an hour for around $75 for the parts. Problem is that a year later it’s happened again. I can see the LCD is working by shining a light on it, so backlighting is definitely out again. I have to assume some other problem is burning them out now that it’s happened twice.

IF YOU HAVE BLACK SCREEN but light is on and you can hear sound ( try sync mobile) then probably need to replace LCD motherboard. Worked for me.

92 days in so I can't return this TCL POS TV set to the store for a refund. Never again! Funny thing is that we were about to buy a second TCL TV set when the "almost black" screen thing started. No possibility of buying another one now. The unplug reboot fix worked this time (Thank you!), but no way we want to be doing that on a regular basis. What a pain!

Way late but that seems to be a backlight issue not a tcon issue (From expirience :() We ended up replacing the backlight and it worked for about two weeks so not worth it at all (we installed it right btw)

I have a TCL tv with a black screen. I've tried all of the recommended "fixes", but none of them work. The TV was purchased for a guest bedroom so has been barely used, maybe 15 hours. It's no longer under warranty. TCL refuses to do anything, even after the problem being escalated. Anyone considering purchasing a TCL TV should keep in mind that the product is poor quality and TCL doesn't stand behind it. Better to spend your money on a more reputable brand. I have a Samsung big screen LCD that has been heavily used over its 10 year life, but has never had a single problem.

We had our 6-series 4k TCL for about 3 years when it suddenly started doing the black screen (with slightly greyer vertical bar on the right hand side). Unplugging and plugging back in always resolves. But this is a band aid, not a fix. I've previously had Panasonic, LG and Visio TVs and they've all lasted years - and those I've sold or given away have still worked. Safe to say I will never buy TCL again. Edit: And now I think about it, my Blackberry Key One screen came off a few years ago due to not enough glue being used in the manufacturing process. The manufacturer? TCL.

I called TCL support, and after doing everything, they told me the screen is broken and I need to take it to an authorized repair center but that they aren't allowed to tell me where those are. How do I know it's authorized if you won't tell me where to find one? Mind you, this TV was made in March 2021, so it's barely 2 years old. If I have a technician, check it out, and it's broken it's the last TCL TV I buy

i think i fixed it, i replaced the power cord with the one i had for my ps4 since i use my ps5 now and well at the moment its not flicking black for 1 second every 5 seconds but if it goes back i'll update the comment and say its not fixed. who would have known it was the power cord. and to think i was going to go to best buy to get it fixed.

Your warranty for TCL is backed by somebody in the Philippines. I had no luck with them. Target only gives you a 3 day return. My tv died on the 89th day. I did all they ask. And still got nowhere. I'm done with TCL. Right after I bought my TCL at Target, it was 50.00 cheaper 3 months later.

hi and thanks fro sharing, I have a differen issue you might be able to help with. my TV is hooked up to my computer and satelite under HDMI 1,2,3, ... 3 is wired into my android box and its the only thing giving black screen,? I can get into settings and menu's in my android box T95 max, but cannot get Video,Tv live show main screen to load and no yellow bar android load bar is showing . it is on and running? but other then Google play and advertising at top of screen it is plack. Thanks! Due to the quality-resistant brand known as TCL (loses audio, black screen etc) , I now Google every new product I’m considering buying with “insert brand/model won’t or doesn’t”… and let Google fill in the blanks. The results instantly inform me as to what kind of POS I almost got suckered into buying. It’s my fault though in this case. I forgot the very important adage, “You get what you pay for” and apparently so did you guys. We only have ourselves to blame. Next time let’s all spend a buck! Edit: and now just after the TCL TV came back to life, 1/3 of the screen is darker than the rest. I have a 52” 1080p Toshiba from 2008 that is still kicking ass and looks crisper & brighter than this 4K TCL ever did. Boo Hiss! Edit: 12 days later since the last edit and no pic but just sound. Great, just when I was getting used to the 1/3 dark screen.

You are my hero! The f’ing TLC tv screen was not black, but any video was almost black, dark images. The menu and captions looked perfect. But video from any source was almost completely dark. Regardless of antenna, internet or dvd. Pulling the plug and the hard reset worked perfect! Now, to understand, I never watch this POS, I have a library. Moved the TCL tv to another room / outlet, changed the HDMI cables to 8K and yet at times the black screen from HDMI 1-3 occurs. Oddly in the Roku main menu screen I can see the HDMI signal from the preview frame of the Roku menu so I know the device (Xbox in this case) is working properly. Even more strange is the fix I have found for this is to open another app from the Roku menu (such as a streaming service etc.) and after a few seconds close or switch back to the HDMI signal. The black screen will be gone and the HDMI signal will return. A very strange TV (R635 in my case)

There was an update that might've caused your tv to go out. Mine did the same thing. TCL is aware of the problem and has released steps to fix it. (note: TCL 43S431 / 43S431-CA Roku TV are models they identified that might have this problem) 1. Use the TCL Roku TV to power on your television. 2. While the TV is in black screen, press and hold the hard RESET button (located on the back of the TV) until the TV shows the purple recovery screen. [mine was on the right side of the tv near the ports] 3. Follow the on-screen prompts, to connect to your wireless network. 4. After successfully connecting your TV to Wi-Fi, the TV will perform a software update. Once successful, the TV will reboot to Home screen. I followed these steps and now my tv is working again! Hope this works for you!

Bought a TCL in '18. Working fine then 2 days ago I went to turn it on and it was dead. Zero power to it. Did all the recommendations to no use. Called the TCL service line but it was pointless. Out of warranty. The Indian accented man said it's better to buy a new TV. I said it's the power board that needs replaced that's all. Nope didn't matter. TCL doesn't sell parts. I'll just have to find it elsewhere.
