I DO NOT OWN. This is the original version of TCM Remembers 2020 that debuted Dec. 15. TCM has since released and uploaded a revised version ( • TCM Remembers 2020 ), which adds three more individuals to the tribute: actor Jeremy Bulloch, production designer Peter Lamont, and actress Barbara Windsor.
I originally intended this as a temporary upload until TCM uploaded the video to their own KZbin Channel, but since the one they uploaded is different, I've decided to keep this one up for historical and review purposes, assuming TCM permits it.
The song is "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" by Tunewelders featuring Prisca Strother, from a choral composition by Randall Thompson setting the text of Robert Frost.
Tubewelders: www.tunewelders.com/
Prisca Strother: / priscastrother
I am not associated with TCM or any party involved with the making of this video. I neither created nor own any part of this video, including the music. This video was not uploaded with the consent of the owners or creators and will be removed should they request or demand it.

I knew of the big names, but I was hurt to see some lesser known actors who had appeared in projects that I love: Anthony James in “In the Heat of the Night”, Jack Kehoe from “The Sting” and “Serpico”, and “Allen Garfield from “The Candidate”, “The Conversation”, and “Beverly Hills Cop II”. This year was devastating. R.I.P. to all.

(Edited 1/22/2021) As in previous years, there are several people complaining that a tribute by Turner Classic MOVIES does not feature TV and/or music stars with no significant movie credits, TV hosts not affiliated with TCM, and people who died after the tribute was released. There are, however, many individuals omitted from the tribute who not only deserved to be included but also fit TCM's criteria for inclusion to a T. This is not a criticism of TCM's work because I know they can't include everybody, but I want to acknowledge some of those deserving individuals here (see below). R.I.P. India Adams | Singer Claudine Auger | Actress Joe Baltake | Film Critic / Historian Warren Berlinger | Actor Edd Byrnes | Actor Earl Cameron | Actor Lewis John Carlino | Screenwriter / Director Lynn Cohen | Actress Kevin Conway | Actor Gene Corman | Producer Stuart Cornfeld | Producer Linda Cristal | Actress Denise Cronenberg | Costume Designer Suzy Delair | Actress James Drury | Actor Conchata Ferrell | Actress David Foster | Producer Bruce Jay Friedman | Screenwriter / Actor Billy Goldenberg | Composer Michelle Guish | Casting Director Ronald Harwood | Screenwriter Richard Herd | Actor Irm Hermann | Actress Grant Imahara | Model Maker / TV Host Andrew Jack | Actor / Dialect Coach Rafer Johnson | Actor / Athlete John Karlen | Actor Kim Ki-duk | Filmmaker James Lipton | TV Host / Producer Little Richard | Musician Syd Mead | Conceptual Artist Michael Medwin | Actor / Producer Monique Mercure | Actress David Nichols | Production Designer Lennie Niehaus | Composer Margaret Nolan | Actress Leslie Pope | Set Decorator Helen Reddy | Singer / Actress Maurice Roëves | Actor Ronald L. It’s like a fireworks display. People go to the movies to see the great stars and the films that they grace with their presence. Kirk Douglas and Olivia De Havilland were among the last surviving members of Hollywood’s Golden Age. And Sean Connery was great as THE representation of 007 James Bond. All three were giants, especially 103 year old Douglas and 104 year old De Havilland. A fireworks display saves the best for last. TCM should have done this here.
@Themanwhocameback2
@Themanwhocameback2 3 жыл бұрын
Sean Connery was where he should have been. Olivia De had starred in films since 1935, and Kirk Douglas since "Out of the Past" in 1947. Sean did not start, in minor parts, until the very late 50's.
@rancecollins835
@rancecollins835 3 жыл бұрын
@@Themanwhocameback2 Agreed. Plus Olivia is responsible for what is arguably the most important court case in Hollywood actors' history. THEN she won two Oscars to follow that up. By that point, she had already cemented herself in the history books by being in the biggest movie ever made and being one-half a legendary screen pairing. To top it off, she outlasted them all. She MORE than earned that final spot.
@Comictalent
@Comictalent 3 жыл бұрын
@@Themanwhocameback2 TCM tends to be the most respectful of the old guard so makes sense to have Douglas and de Havilland open and close. But I suspect Connery will close the Oscar tribute and the BAFTA. He's the biggest movie star here and many active Hollywood actors/directors knew him well.

Second to last maybe, but not last, IMO. Douglas and Olivia de Havilland were the last surviving stars of Hollywood's Golden Age, but Dame Olivia had been doing films since the 1935, a full decade before Douglas made his Hollywood debut. In fact, I'm pretty sure she was working before everyone in this tribute except for Baby Peggy. She also practically single-handedly took down studio system, effectively marking the end of the Golden Age, so it's all the more fitting that she come in last.

You could make the same case for Sean Connery, who is easily the biggest star who passed this year. Douglas and de Havilland were both legends too and represent an even older generation so I like the opening/closing of it.

Great actor, loved him in 'Silverado' and pretty much everything else he did. If you're asking where he is in the video, he's right before his 'Cocoon' co-star Wilford Brimley.

I'm sorry but the song this year doesn't do it for me. The clips, the order, the mentions are great. As usual TCM in my opinion always excelled in that. But the song this time... dropped the ball. Some previous great songs used were Before you go, Headlights, Press on and All I want.

TCM missed the boat on this one. It's easily the worst year-end tribute they've ever released because it emphasizes form over content. Those blurry clips of Stuart Whitman and Kelly Preston, for example, are disrespectful to their memories. Very disappointing.
@bobnobody4366
@bobnobody4366 3 жыл бұрын
I agree. I was very disappointed, especially the half second for Stuart Whitman. He was more well known than several of the persons that were given clips of several seconds. I dearly hope TCM is not making Remembers a political commentary based on an actors political position.
