I've always liked these tributes on TCM, where one Hollywood professional reflects on a colleague who has passed on. This one however, has to be the best one TCM has done. Hearing Liz Taylor's voice crack when she says how much she misses Monty tears me up. Those two really did love each other, like soulmates. Rest In Peace Liz & Monty.

+Abbi Antonia Oh, yes. Montgomery Clift. Could he act? Oh, my, in spades! Seeing what has been coming out of Hollywood for decades I can't find one that would make a pimple on Montgomery Clift's ass. No, not one.

Elizabeth Taylor was such a loyal friend to him. She actually tried to save his life two times. The first time she succeeded (when she pulled Monty's teeth out of his throat to keep him from choking) and the second time unfortunately she failed. It was when she also tried to revive his dying career. By the mid-60s, nobody in Hollywood would hire Clift because of his drug/alcohol problems & because he was also uninsurable. In the meantime, Taylor had become the biggest star in Hollywood. She saw that her friend was slowly killing himself (exacerbated by the fact he could no longer act) and demanded that Clift be given the lead in her next movie (Reflections in a Golden Eye). The studio agreed to hire Clift only after Taylor agreed to forfeit her own salary. Unfortunately, he died of a heart attack before the film started production. Marlon Brando (another loyal friend of Clift's) agreed to play the part at the last minute as a tribute to Monty.

The most beautiful, heartfelt tribute anyone could ask for. A comfort to think of them together now, in the sweet by and by.

You can hear the pain and loss in Elizabeth's voice, especially at the end. Those who knew her said she was the most loyal, generous friend you would ever want to have. A very loving woman.

Really beautiful. Actually two troubled souls--which is why they probably connected so deeply. Heartwrenching but touching.

My favourite people, two of the most talented and gorgeous people to ever grace the screen. Their chemistry was unbelievable, one of a kind, - and so was the story of their friendship.

an amazing coincidence, the time of the movie "the restless" (1960), Clark gable died in 1960, Marilyn Monroe died in 1962, and Montgomery Clift died in 1966. They all played in this movie.

In my opinion, one of the most gorgeous men who ever walked the face of Earth!
I know this is a bit of a stretch, but Matthew Perry reminds me of Monty. Not sure what it is, they're very different actors but there is a likeness. Monty was a genius and beautiful in a way few men are. I wish I could have been alive during the same era to date him ;)
