I can't tell you how thankful I am for Ernest Langdon. When I first got into pistols about a year and a half ago I watched tons of videos and participated in multiple forums doing my research on which pistol to purchase for my EDC. Of course Glock came up over and over again but I have a family with small children and my wife put her foot down on having a pistol in the house that didn't have a manual safety. The thing I kept hearing over and over again was "my safety is my finger" and "my safety is between my ears" but I kept thinking about how no one seems to be factoring in the human element. We make mistakes, we aren't perfect, but anytime I tried to bring this up I was always hit with a chorus of "you shouldn't even be carrying". ALWAYS!! I did end up purchasing a Ruger SR9c which has many layers of safety, but after watching some of the Lucky Gunner videos I decided to trade in my SR9c for a Beretta PX4 Storm Compact. I LOVE the fact that I can have a round in the chamber with nothing cocked and the comfort of knowing that I have a long first pull before the gun goes bang. I also love that I can put my thumb on the hammer when holstering. When you own a Beretta PX4 Storm it's just a matter of time before you find out about Ernest Langdon and when I heard him confirm my thoughts on safety I pumped my fist in the air. Yes, finally someone who isn't screaming "you shouldn't even be carrying" at people who express concerns with the whole "keep your booger hook off the bang switch" phrase which I can't stand. Thanks for posting this video.

Active Self Protection Extra I carry two different 92s that Mr Langdon did an IDPA legal carry job on and the triggers are sweet. We took a course from him and he is a real gentleman. I’m hoping someone comes out with a slide that is cut for a micro red dot for either the 92 or PX4 as my older eyes would love it.

I used to carry a G19 at 4:30. When I switched to AIWB, I initially carried the G19, but was slightly uncomfortable, especially since I switched the OEM trigger for a Zev Technology Fulcrum. So I started looking around, and came back to my old favorite - my Sig P229SAS (w/ SRT). Started carrying it in a 'TheKeeper,' and practiced 'religiously' (once a week live fire; daily dry fire with Mantis-X; emphasis on trigger pulls & accuracy) and in no time, that initial DA pull was no problem. De-cocking after shooting is now second nature... Just like flipping up the safety has been for years when carrying and shooting 1911s... Since switched to Beretta (EDC 92 Elite LTT w/ LTT trigger job; for the lighter clothed days, PX4 Compact Carry w/ LTT trigger job), since the de-cocker does not require me to break my primary hand grip (which the Sig did.)

On the de-cocking point. My wife and I just took a course that was first aid for the first responders/ concerned citizen that included life fire portions. It was gratifying to watch the video because every time either of us reholstered after live fire and before administering first aid to the dummy we engaged the saftey/ decocker. This came partly from training but mostly from years of shooting in an IDPA based league that allowed hot ranges and administrative reloading so it was an ingrained force of habit.

You're the man for getting an interview with Ernest! He managed to improve what. I've always regarded to be one of the most beautiful/functional pistol of all time- the PX4. I'm partial to DA/SA, but due to the position of the market I plan to settle with a striker fired pistol. Hopefully, if enough people get interested them, we can see some more sub compact pistols with hammers.

*Great Discussion as usual, John* 1. I've been using Glock since my academy days. 2. All my ad's happened on the range when I was learning. 3. I concur, my firearm is out of my holster more then it's in the holster. That's the reality.

im in an area where there is much more people than work so your lucky to have a job here. however being as the supply demand is massively lop sided the pay is trash. so i had the option of getting 1 gun for carry and i chose the cz p07 for a few reasons one being the large trigger guard for large gloves because as i said i could only chose 1 gun. it was a bad choice not because of the gun is junk or anything but because there is not may holsters/accessories for it and a light. for instance i cannot find a holster for the cz p07 with a olight pl2 valkyrie.

Check with JM Custom Kydex - Tony may be able to hook you up with a holster for that combo.

It's the light that's causing that holster shortage. That's not a popular light.

I could listen to this conversation all day.(mostly because it's oozing with common sense) I'm going to have to pedal a couple of my non-TDA guns and pick up a Concealed Carry. Yep, it's been decided. 😉

I carry a 1911 cocked and locked AIWB. I would also not hesitate to carry the Sig 226 and 228, old favorites. I would not carry any striker fire handgun AIWB. Learning to decock is simple. And with thousands of draws from a holster, wiping the manual safety off of a 1911 is not something you will forget to do under pressure either. Light trigger-pull striker fire handguns will too easily get many folks into trouble.
@ASPextra6 жыл бұрын
Funny how seldom you actually hear of it, though.
@gb936696 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I should have said, "Light trigger-pull striker fire handguns will too easily get many folks into trouble when the time comes they have to pull their handgun in an emergency." My concern is not the carrying of the handgun so much as deploying it in an emergency. Extensive training of course mitigates the risk greatly.
@Rhetorical3466 жыл бұрын
The real problem with TDA carry is lack of appropriate guns. There isn't much in the Glock 19 class of guns that isn't a huge pile of shit (like the P07).

As always, Langdon is a refreshing antidote to all the hyped up tacticool dudes out there wearing their "operator" flag on their sleeve. He's got the chops and nothing to prove. As an aside, one training tip I use with DA trigger dry fire practice that I've carried over from using revolvers with similarly heavy trigger pulls - put a penny on top of the barrel, just aft of the front site. Practice getting your trigger pull smooth enough that the penny stays put all the way through the pull, past the break. Do that enough times (along with a number of excellent DA/SA-specific drills featured on Langdon's KZbin page) and after a while, you won't think the DA trigger is anywhere near as big of a deal as some people try to make it out to be.

Lots of people are waking up to the fact that TDA isn't that hard to learn or train for while providing real world benefits vs. short/light triggers.

I actually see the HK LEM trigger as being superior for threat management... even better than TDA. Now, is it fun or easy to shoot? Nope. Not at all IMO. Everything is a balance.

Hipster? I choose my Da/Sa 92fs because its the best best pistol ever made. I like accuracy and reliability. I don't trust striker fire pistols. Too many reliability issues.
