TODAY On Terminal Velocity, a RSS/RO/RP1 playthrough:
We land Bob on the Moon.
Mistake note: Starbuck 1 propulsion and CSM are 700t rockets, not 350t.
Hey all. This is for now the temporary end of Terminal Velocity. I've made these all pretty fast, and I've been focusing on filming each one well. Terminal Velocity will probably return at some point next year, but with a new format, hopefully better filming, and a slower upload rate, something like once a month.
Hopefully, there will be crewed Mars landing some time in the future, so look out for it. Until then, goodbye!

@@GoatzAreEpic Exactly, I wish kerbal could have more kinetic friction. Tried a spaceplane landing on Minmus using the flats as a “runway” (RCS to manage vertical speed and altitude) but the wheel brakes don’t work outside of atmosphere. Jumped off a hill, into a very low orbit.

ayo if this is supposed to show the technology in 1957 then I didn't know they had crew technology and all this rocket technology this powerful a month after the first object in orbit
@TDChannelKSP
@TDChannelKSP 3 жыл бұрын
Not quite. The 1957 year is just in KSP - in a normal RP1 playthrough, you could have 1957 tech in 1957 like normal, and play it historically. This is a "speedrun", meant to do some advanced tactics and use earlier technology to gain speed ahead of history. In this case, I'm actually around 1964 tech - the capsules are Dynasoar / Early Gemini tech, and the engines are a mix of early 60s American (LR-79) and Soviet (RD-0110, S1.5400) engines. It's still a pretty risky mission, like using cryogenic propellants (liquid oxygen) out near the Moon, and a lack of throttle for landing.

Basic speedrunning tactics - take a contract as soon as possible, for the advance money, use that money for KCT points, complete the contract using the lowest-tech option you can build before the deadline expires. It's still possible, but there have been some changes to RP-1 to *potentially* slow down speedrunning a bit.

There's a reasonable amount of margin, no need to carry anything extra. If they got stranded, it would take too long to rescue them even with double the supplies.
