I had decided I was never going to get into the axis and allies games. and I wasn't sure what kind of zombie game I would like. So then, axis allies and zombies came out and I said sure why not. I've had it for a bit cuz now that I'm back in the gaming I kind of went crazy and was stocking up on additional games(old n brand new). I'm trying to finally play all my unplayed games. The ones that are staring at me from their shelves. You can hear their pleas at night, "play me play me, or we are going to eat your brains tonight." Great review as always.

Did you pick this up? If you're still looking for a strategic WWII game, War Room is really good. If you don't like A&A&Z, there are a number of great zombie games out there. Zombicide and Dead of Winter are both really fun.

@@TheDiscriminatingGamer I did pick it up. Found it at a reduced price at Barnes n Noble book store. Punching out the pieces as we speak, or as we text.Their "bargain bin" has been very very good to me. It's where I found my copy of Monopoly Socialism, and where I picked up two starter X-Wing boxes very cheap. I was buying more vehicles there, but I've now managed to stop buying X-Wing models. Did buy the mat though. got to be careful. my kids sent me down the Yu-Gi-Oh rabbit hole and I've got three plastic bins full of cards, decks, & binders full of cards sitting in the garage. hopefully in about 30 years the cards will still be worth something and the kids can sell them and then throw me a good Irish wake. I've had mostly two-player 'regular' war games and I had been since retiring two years ago buying mostly 'regular' war games. Branching out now...pure solo games now on my shelf. B17QotS, Hunters, Hunted, Silent Victory, & Amerika Bomber. All next after AAZombies.

Any excess hits by one side or the other are then applied to zombies in the territory if any, and once any defenfing units are eliminated, the attacker may still conduct combat against zombies(as long as they choose if zombies are present) using their combat rating and the zombie headshot(6 on the d6). Attacking air units must retreat after 1 round of combat against zombies only.

Dear Cody, Ever since you started your channel four years ago, I've been buying every game you told us to, and then I'm also buying what Marco and the others tell us to buy, but my wife says it wasn't such a great idea to mortgage our house and my children complain that they would enjoy the games more if they weren't so hungry, and some of them even resent me for spending their college money on that new deluxe Twilight Imperium 4th edition, among other games. I know, people can be so shortsighted... What with all the fun we're having. But what do you recommend I tell them to convince them that it's all worth it?
@TheDiscriminatingGamer5 жыл бұрын
I suppose I've been lucky, never having been saddled with the drudgery of wife and children. I suppose that I would remind them, constantly, that board games fill a gap in your life that they do not. Make them aware of your priorities and once they know their place their expectations will drop accordingly. Best of luck! And now, I'm off to my lonely hovel and regrets.

This could be dangerous but tell them all these games will be for them to sell once you've passed on since there is no life insurance policy. you may have to sleep with one eye open just so they don't try to collect early...lol

Interesting thing is that the people who like this game all said this game is excellent and great, the people who don't like it just completely don't want to mention it. Within the A&A community, I say more people dislike it than people like it...
@TheDiscriminatingGamer5 жыл бұрын
Sunny Niu I think for a lot of people the thing they like about A.A. is the historical aspect, and so they write this off without giving it a chance. I’ve talked to a few people who didn’t want to have anything to do with it because it was “pure” history.
@sunnyniu38495 жыл бұрын
The Discriminating Gamer My personal opinion is that A&A is intend to be a historical game, so I don't really like the idea of putting fantastical element in it. Yet on the other side, as a board game lover, AAZ really gives the whole game a new mechanics, it is successful as a standalone board game. If possible I will try this out. So I'd say it's a good board game but not so good as an A&A game

From bgg: “A game designed by fantasy idiots who also destroyed Avalon Hill by sheer neglect, and who know nothing about History. They kicked out Larry Harris and replaced him with jackasses who could only come up with such a ridiculous game idea.”
@TheDiscriminatingGamer5 жыл бұрын
@@varovaro1967 Wow, that's harsh. I think perhaps they are missing the point. If you want to play a traditional game of Axis & Allies, you still can. This is just a new spin on the old system. I really had fun with it. I am a WWII military historian, and I can set aside my love of history to embrace the fantastic elements here. I really don't think it's an "either/or" proposition.
