TDG: Firefly: The Game - 10th Anniversary Collector's Edition

Since the first time I played Firefly, it's been my number one game. My son played his first game of it after we got the 10th Anniversary edition and he is hooked. My daughter is coming home for Easter break soon and one game she says we have to play is Firefly. We are doing the Let's Be Bad Guys story card.

One of the few channels that I don't fast forward through the intro because I like the music, the jokes and the game images. I really like the FF on the gameplay. See ya soon up there in Idaho.

cody...iam really considering to buy the anniversary edition...what kind of table would i need for a full play of 4-5 people?i consider this game 3,4,5 players game max...i had the first retail version...but in this the all good expansion are there to pump up the game...i have a 7 pool table at home..working on some boards to cover it so we can play board games....thats a LOT of boardgames at that house at 16:30.. :D

@@FarkyJ Yeah, Ray has a lot of games for sure. Don’t know dimensions, but your table will have to be huge. Played it at another friends’ house and put the mat in the counter and all the cards on the table. This may be my largest real estate hog game.

We just played this last weekend. Love this game. I had all the expansions, but picked up 10th anniversary for the new stuff. It’s an event game for us, like TI4, where the experience of being in that universe is the thing. BTW we played the smuggler blues story card.

@@TheDiscriminatingGamer there's a ton of great custom content on BoardGameGeek. Although it's not like you need more than GF9's excellent expansions, but for diversity and fun there's cool stuff to be had.

This was such a fun game to play and for me it is best at 4. When it is not your turn there is still so much you can do so that when your turn comes around it really helps to keep the game rolling. And just in case anyone wants to know just how much of a table hog this game is, my table is 44" x 101" and it was full.

Me and my wife love firefly and i have all the ships and expansions except artful dodger. I heard they did an anniversary edition and jumped out of my seat to go back it only to discover i had missed it by about 20 hours and there was no late backer option. 😢

Star Wars Outer Rim is in my personal top games list. Though wasnt keen on the curved board aesthetic design I perferred the playing area in Firefly but thats just a minor quibble. I love the space outlaw immersion of both games. I watched my Firefly boxset the other day pity the series had a lifespan of a Mayfly it had such good writing.

I like the show so much and I remember playing it a decade ago. I really wanted to like the game but it went on and on and on... 3 to 4 hours with 4 players iirc. That's 1/2 of a TI4 evening. We all knew it wouldn't hit the table that often after that.

It is a long game, “an event game.” However, as you play it more with experienced players, the play time comes down. Players need to figure out their actions between turns and be ready to go.

Been one of my favorites since I played it. Outer Rim was pretty close to unseating this, but between all the expansions this game has and the glut of Star Wars games out there, it was easy to settle on Firefly.

Outer Rim is great, especially with the expansion. But doesn’t come close to unseating Firefly, IMHO.

@@kevinsayers5985 Years ago I owned both. I had a massive purge before a move and got rid of Xia because I thought it was too similar to Firefly. I really missed it, however, and recently backed it again. So I will have both once more.

I once gave up Xia because I had this one. I recently decided to reacquire Xia because my shelf is big enough for both. I think you will really enjoy the game without having seen the show, but I HIGHLY recommend that you see the show because it’s fantastic. Only about fourteen episodes and a movie. It’s in Hulu.

I would buy them in a second if they made them. I know someone on BGG made some artwork that you can glue on poker chips. I tried them for a 2,000 one and they were ok but I did not like the feel of the glued on paper.

For my money, this edition is absolutely worth it, but I don’t think it will be available again any time soon. Pick up the base game and see if you like.

Sneeky way to get Kim to play it with you. Reall liked the gameroom where you played it. I do not have all the expansion I think I have 4 2 are big box expansions. I do like an adventure game that tells a story. It realy lessens the hurt of losing
