The contingencies add a layer of possible deception when playing semi co-op. Playing full co-op, they're just a turn wasting mechanic. I've thought about dropping them myself when I play solo. You're going to figure it out, but you have to waste time digging through the pile.

"Just desserts..." Oh man. Okay, I laughed my butt off. I played the original game a few weeks ago with some friends. It does an excellent job of capturing the story and feel of "Alien," and so I think you hit the bullseye with your explanation/description. I won but it was sooooooo uncool. People are STILL talking about it. It's gonna be a while before I can erase that from my record. Thanks for the great review!!

I would say you want both if your going down that story immersive path. It was sort of like the Aftermath Expansion. You play the first one and that story 1 and then Aftermath was the part 2 and my friends and I are all looking at ok we take the survivors from 1 and bring them to Lockdown while the rest play the base crew. Its just an on going story. Plus its multiple maps so for me yea get both if your wanting variety in play. Sort like Black Plague zombicide and Green Horde. Or if your into that story narrative of ongoing from one game to the next yea both are the way to go.

Given how much can be added with Voidseers and Carnomorphs, plus the Aftermath mode, there is just a ton to play with Nemesis. I am not sure when I will get to Lockdown. Likely eventually play Nemesis, then Aftermath and then if anyone survives, go straight to Lockdown.

Not sure when you'll get to playing with the chytrids but it's like pandemic mixed with nemesis and I think it just might be my favourite way to play this one.

we found that the contigencies are bunk, whoever knows specific ones has way more information then everyone else. the ones that there are only one of. We wound up just going back to playing the original.

Fellow Utah gamer here. I tend to agree that the first one is a bit better. The CSS pods mechanism in Lockdown is a big step down in my opinion. I feel like that system has WAY too much variability to make it a viable option. I did enjoy the idea of the facility having "power". I think the contingencies would be a bit better if there were more ways to look at the other players tokens.

Is there a co-op mode like the original game? I enjoy playing Nemesis but so far we have only played co-op (with sort of a house rule, that we count a win as completing 4 out of 5 objectives and someone survives)

@@TheDiscriminatingGamer Just tried it and i loved it!!! Now i wonder if i should get the lockdown, made a ton of mistakes, but the game did tell a story. If you discuss about the gaming experience after the game is finished then the game is brilliant. The learning curve is steep though.

I read players deciding to allow removing a noise counter furthest away from them after each round since its too hard to deal with noise everywhere and doesnt make sense noise stays in an empty distant corridor Some also allowed weapons to start with full ammo

@@harimakenji7608 No we did not make any house rules, the other players informed me (4 plus me) that none would choose a traitor mission, they wanted to make the game more easy. I did not believe them (i was wrong) and i made their lives hard, sometime for no actual reason, i should have helped some of them.But no regrends the take that element is predominant in my gaming group.

I ended up buying the first Nemesis game shortly after you reviewed it, and I love it. Definitely one of my favourite games of all time 😁👍🏻 I ended up also picking the Void Seeders and Carnomorphs expansions as well.

We played a game with the Medic last week and wow is she sort of powerful. She is bunk for combat, but she is consistently drawing extra action cards every round, so she can move and do far more than most characters.

The original is tighter, the theme is better, and there is still plenty of content to experience. Lockdown is good but its 2 steps forward and 3 steps back in my opinion.
