I was going to save this game for Christmas (traditionally there was always a big war movie shown during Christmas in my childhood) But the gaming devil on my shoulder told me it be ok to open the box and play one mission. Well I was hooked and played them all! Normally I prefer dice rolling but I thought the limited pool of tokens worked very well and the story advantage tokens were very similar to modern RPGs mechanics. I'm also playing a tactical espionage SOE French Resistance game Classified: France '44 on my Playstation, I found both the War Story and the video game complemented each other for even more immersion. As you stated at the end of the review it be interesting if War Story becomes a series of games. I cant think of any other choose your own adventure or rpgs what are set in the WW2

@@TheDiscriminatingGamer If you like turn based WW2 video games I do recommend Classified France 44 its a ok budget game. The limited resource management and building loyalty with the three factions Criminals, Radicals, and Gaullists (none like each other) does feel like a boardgame. The game does have different endings depending on choices and how much you have disrupted the nazis in the different regions on the map. At the moment I have two weeks till D Day. My resistance cell is not in a good shape suffering from fatigue and injuries also increased Gestapo activity has given me debuffs making crucial missions much harder. My gut feeling is the success of the Normandy landings and breakout is now on a knife edge Its going to close run thing.

This game looks very good! How long does it take to play through one mission? And would it be hard to write your own missions for this system, and run them as a game master, more like an rpg?

@@ManJackThe runs about 60 to 90 minutes. I don’t know how you’d make your own missions without writing a book.
