I like the guy revving up the diesel when it is stone cold. Does he not realise that is the worst thing you can do to diesel that is absolutely freezing cold 😂
@Misicek11 ай бұрын
Its better to rev it btw :D as oil will be cold anyway so it will be less lubricated for a longer time, if you rev it and you will try to warm up engine faster, oil will be warmer so your engine can run smoothly sooner
@Misicek11 ай бұрын
But ofc not rev it to redline just... 10sec then start driving and keep it under 3000rpm just ... Let it warm up but dont wait to warm it up by itself
@livinglifeboosted164211 ай бұрын
@@Misicek that is not true the moment you start your engine if the oil pump is healthy and the bearing clearances are good, it should have more than ample oil pressure for idle even in cold weather and believe it or not the colder, the oil the higher the oil pressure which is why you do not want to rev up your engine. You can damage the oil pump doing that the oil relief open, but it’s not always enough
@icyclaw1310 ай бұрын
@@Misicekwhat are you babling about? You know most diesels if they are cold are not supposed to go over 2k RPM even when driving with cold engine? You can rev it more after oil is around 25-30c and you can go over 3k when water is 90 and oild around 35-40.
@rafa_vsky10 ай бұрын
@@icyclaw13yo dude could you please elaborate a bit more about the oil temperature? My car doesn't show the oil temperature. Only the "water" is marked. I'd like to know more about working temps of the oil, as it take much more time to get the oil temperature up then the water... i mean i thought we could only start pushing it after the oil reached 80-ish °C

Last video : This knock is also known as « Diesel knock » As the name suggests, this happens on diesel engines when they’re cold, or a very poor air/fuel mix (like in extreme cold)
@kickingfatality2 ай бұрын
Really Cold mornings my sister runs her hair dryer into the air intake for a few minutes to warm up the intake and then starts the engine with the hair dryer running pointing in to the intake. She secures it somehow so it doesnt move ..but it seems to work for her VW Jetta diesel.
@WymiataczPlays2 ай бұрын
yes, hot air into the intake is exactly what a diesel needs =)

Tdi engines can/must/will start properly if: - make sure glow plugs, thermostat and fuel temp and other sensors, battery (keep oem insulated cover) and starter are good - 0w40 505.00/502.00 oil is used in VP engines or older - 0w30 507.00/504.00 oil exists and makes wonders on PD or CR, but also works fine in VP or even older. - winter diesel is needed, go put new fuel at petrol station. Biodiesel or regular diesel B7 or B0 won't work if summer and froze. Lowest octane gasoline up to 30% mixture with diesel works in old mechanical engines, for high pressure diesel pump engines you better mix with kerosene instead (aviation fuel or fuel injector cleaning treatment or proper additive or go fuel station ), you don't want injector-pump or high pressure common rail kaboom. - coolant needs to be the G12 or G12+, not water not any cheap whatever. - how long is been you checked your gear oil? haldex and quattro 4x4 have their own service schedule. But gear oil needs changing if more than 10 years or 250.000 kms in gearbox or differential, go oem, oem like or superceeded 5/6 speed 02x gearboxes 75W GL-4 is good from Audi 80 to current Golf VIII and models in between on VAG. - if you need to help using throttle, or it is too cold (

The last engine is 1.9pdtdi the 105 or the 115 not sure. About the knock thats clearly an injector knoch. When the pd injector starts going bad or air gets into the unit injector it start knocking like that and it disappear as soon as it gets to operating temperature.

Clearly not a 2.0l. Look at the right side of the vehicle theres a turbo hose going to the EGRvalve under the engine cover on the back of the engine. Nearly every 2.0l tdi (except BMP)is dohc which leaves no space for the EGRvalve the front of the engine. @WymiataczPlays

Next time possibly =) turns out I've already used most of the V6 videos. I wanted to make a compilation including at least one of each variant with 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 and 12 cylinders but I've already used many of them and most of the 6+ cylinder TDI engined cars are equipped with webasto so there aren't many real cold start videos of them :/ Do you have one by the way? Are they good engines? So many cheap A6C5's with this engine for sale here for like $ 500, tempting to get a big comfy 6 cylinder turbodiesel saloon instead of some small car for same price but I've heard horror stories about it :P

@@WymiataczPlays your videos are great as always and you’re a good good man. I’m watching and cheering from Italy. @@WymiataczPlays the engine itself can be extremely reliable or a complete mess. Engine codes starting with A have solid camshafts but they wear out like butter on a hot surface. B series engines have good camshaft lobes, but the camshafts are hollow and tend to break. Regular early maintenance is key. My a6 is not equipped with webasto 😏 The real fun killer is the ZF 5HP19 transmission though, it is like we Italians like to say “a complete toilet”.
