People always site at the drive in or the Bronx as being “crazy” live, as someone who has been both manhandled by Greg in the mosh and helped others to hold up Ben literally 7 rows deep twice, these guys are hands down the most um “energetic” live band ever. I understand not being into the music but you have to respect the fact they did this shit every night for 6+ months a year for over a decade. No one before them or since them will be the same. DEP4LYF 🤘

Tbf, At The Drive-In was probably the craziest a live band could be without actively endangering themselves AND the audience. lol
@Tyrannosaurine7 ай бұрын
Dillinger were nuts, but ATDI definitely were fucking crazy as well. Their live shows actually have a lot in common but we’re very different in many ways. Both bands managed to have someone holding down the fort (DEP-Pennie and Liam keeping it together with a machine like consistency/ATDI-Tony, Paul, and Jim. While Cedric and Omar went nuts, Jim Ward was quietly the backbone of that band). There no doubt the Afros were crazily talented, but without Jim they would’ve been AWFUL sounding live). Especially once Heroin and Crack entered the picture. Dillinger was different though in that it felt genuinely dangerous to be there. ATDI, so long as you stayed away from the first couple rows and the Afros, you were gonna be fine. First couple rows risked having their teeth knocked out by a Jaguar or Jazzmaster or whatever Omar played. With DEP, anything could happen. Final note: there was a distinct difference in local bands around where I’m from before and after ATDI came through Philly on the In/Casino/Out tour. Afros were cool all of a sudden, and every frontman in the area started copping Cedric’s “dance” moves.

This is going to be a long one so strap in if willing.... Metal has always been a huge passion of mine ever since I started drumming at the age of 12. I've seen hundreds of live shows and all of my favorite bands. I've been drawn to the more extreme and darker side of metal like tech and brutal metal and black metal. I've always known of dillinger escape plan and at the time I wasn't really a fan. This all drastically changed the day I saw dillinger live. They are by far the greatest live band I've ever seen. They're able to bring this insane presence that they make their very own. I immediately became a huge fan and honestly have them to thank for opening my eyes to so many great bands that before I wouldn't give the time of day due to my stubborn opinion. Ill remember this show all the way to my death bed.

People are upset they can't be in the band's shoes, therefore they feel entitled to connect to the band (according to their own perceptions) closer than other fans can, to internally compensate for what they feel they missed out on, because they don't have the same kind of motivation which the band has.
