@@orchidsgardeninengland1682 lol what part of England? As some places the ppm of tap water is around 200s or even 300s which is still bad, it should be like under 50s just like in Madrid Spain. So where in England are you as it will help me to look into living in that area for a nice soft water. Am actually surprised how low tds is ur tap omg…

I have just done a reading of my tap water 7pm on Friday, 4th February 2022 and it is reading 94 ppm. This is high, I have seen it a lot less. However, it is still suitable for watering orchids with. I, however, rarely use my tap water preferring instead to use rain water from the two water butts in the garden. Today's reading was 58 ppm. The area I live is south Cheshire, known as the Cheshire Plains.

My rain water was TDS 110. Distilled water was 000. Tape well water was 268. I don’t know why the rain water is so high.

I do believe rain water, if like mine, comes directly from the roof into the water butt, can have a higher TDS and PH, because of the buildup of debris and moss that accumulates on the roof tiles. This Spring, after a very dry period, I couldn't use any of my butt water it was too contaminated and so I had to wait until we had enough Spring rains to wash all the debris away. My rain water is now around 58 TDS, whereas my tap water is around 98. I always now check my water whether from the tap or water butt first before deciding whether to fertilise or not.

your ppm/tds readings are good......rainwater is what you would expect....005....your ph readings I believe are not all correct....not all....i think some are close....turn the meter on....hold it till it displays what it was calibrated too.......if I calibrate mine to 7.0 fluid....then it displays that when turned on...takes a few seconds.....then I will immerse it and get a reading....but hold it still for a moment and see if it calibrates itself.....then check your water....not all meters are made the same.....but its how most work......and I have to say how proud i am to see you really taking it serious..........it will click, and the rest is hands on......its one of those things that changes how you grow.....warms my heart a bit too...great show Margaret...

On the TDS the lower the number the better? On the PH between 5. and 7. is good?

Tbf u want it more bang on 6 tbf the closer to this number the more room you have if fluctuations happen you can have tha leeway to not see lock out
