After riding a Yamaha TW200 over 10,000 miles. I can safely say that it's the near perfect motorcycle for me and my type of riding. I find it fun to ride and super reliable, but it's definitely not going to be a good bike for everyone. Here are 5 things to consider before buying a Yamaha TW200.
Thanks For watching!
Thanks to Benjamin Marceau for the video Idea.

@TDubsKid I haven't read through the comments yet but wanted to mention that the helmet lock latch is meant to go through the D rings of the helmet straps. Securing your helmet as you did in the video means all you have to do is unstrap the helmet and it's stolen, defeating to whole purpose of the lock. In all other respects, your video was absolute gold sir!

I'm 64 years old with worn out knees and also 6ft tall and 260 lb. so the lower seat height was a great selling point for me. It reminds me of the 1970's trail bikes I loved as a kid. Mine is a 2018 and I love it. TDubs you the man love your videos informative and entertaining.

What's up tdubskid. I would like to take a moment to say thank you. Your content has inspired me to purchase a tdub about a year ago. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a new one but I found a nice used '13 a couple states over and got it. I've put about 5k miles on it and regularly use your videos to help me maintain it. I've got a 50 mile commute to get to the Base I work at, so the miles add up pretty quickly. I put a 45 tooth sprocket on the back and just roll along a 55mph. You've also inspired me to go motocamping and I've thoroughly myself. Thank you, again for your content and inspiration! Mike

1986 for Christmas I got a TW200 when I was 15. Upgrade from my old 1979 XR 75 I had since I was 11. It IS without a doubt the tank of bikes. It's tough as hell. And while it wasn't the best bike to do jumps with it more than made up for that in the mud or trekking through unexplored terrain like thick woods, rocks and thick sand that leave other bikes stranded. My friends at the time rode an XT 200 Yamaha, DR 200 Susuki a CR 125 Honda and an XL 100 Honda. The only bike mine would beat in a drag race was the XL 100, but top speed was pretty close to the same topping out at about 70 MPH. The other bikes topped out around 85 to 95, but 99% of our riding was on dirt sandy roads, fields, mud and beaches along the Choptank river so I'd guess our average speed was maybe 45 MPH at most so the TW never really had a problem keeping up. In the thick sand rock climbing and mud the other bikes had no chance of keeping up with the TW. It's a really fun bike with more pro's than con's. Easy to work on, pretty much bullet proof engine and it takes a beating most bikes can't handle. I'd recommend the TW200 to anyone from beginner to expert rider, it offers a lot of fun no matter your riding skill.

+preston121068 that’s awesome! I would have loved one at 15 years old haha yeah not great for jumps especially bad at landing them. Yeah such a great bike just to explore all types of terrain. Makes sense it is a pretty heavy bike and the big tires add more rolling resistance. Haha that’s rad just depends on where your riding. True that such a good dependable bike that will take you anywhere

I took my safety course on a TW200, and it's a really fun little bike. Also, you mention buying tyres for $60-$70, which is crazy, because I run Bridgestone Battlax BT46s on my Suzuki GS750 for about $200 each.

I agree, I like to be forced to take the back roads too and that's what inspired me to get the new bike I did.. I finally got one! For the last year I've saved and planned to get the Yamaha 660 tenere but yesterday that all changed. I went to a vintage bike show and test rode and bought a ... Drum roll! .. Royal Enfield classic 500 in army green, I got a great deal on last year's showroom model for $3000 ..2 grand off a brand new bike! so I couldn't say no. So with the money I saved I've ordered the metal panniers and crash bars and upgrade all the lights and put a big windshield on it for touring.. it's gonna looks sick ! Like a world war 2 despatch bike , they are slow as hell and vibrate like fuck but so fun to ride , top out at 60mph so all back roads for me from now on and our back roads are different from yours.. I think y'all call'em single tracks ? haha so yes I've got some adventures ahead for me fishing and camping on this little beauty . Gets delivered Wednesday and I can't wait!

Got a Suzuki VanVan 200 because of the fuel injection and a big bitch seat (for commuting mostly). But the TW200 looks a lot more capable off-road. They both use the same size tires. Did some off-roading with the VanVan, and you're right, that front tire is a bit slippery but did the job. Great video!

Hi I like your videos about TW200. I have noticed in one of video that you have problem with uneven wearing of front tire. I do have same problem with my 200cc motorcycle. Every second tread on this tire is worn out. what can cause this problem? I do assume that front telescopic shock are the problem. Low oil? No oil? Thank you

I don't do any narly offroad stuff mostly fire roads and the occasional single track. I am 6'2 and having ridden my friends dr650 I can totally handle it. Thanks Tdubskid!!!

Great video. My first bike was a TW200 and I still miss it. I blew it up going down the interstate one day. I have a 1900cc yamaha raider now but I still think that ole tw200 was the most fun I have had out of all the bikes I have owned. One thing I would like to add, it can hold a ton of weight. If you can pile or strap it on the tw200 can carry it and with its low gears can climb hills with it too. Makes it great for camping.

thanks! and nice it's such a great first bike, it was my first street legal bike. dang that sucks, I have heard of someone doing something similar, keeping the throttle pinned at 75 and stock gearing 🔥💥💥 tha'ts for sure, I don't feel much of a difference when i'm hauling a bunch of camping gear haha
