Friend, could have been pictures from Deliverance, count yourself luck ! Love your videos Adam. BTW, I worked as a security guard at an abandoned power station, amazingly deadly, anyhow, this was early 90s no KZbin yet so the only people that I had to kick out were people snooping. Place was right on Lake Erie in PA, 24/7 guard on it, I was snowed in a few times, the wind, noises and sudden "bumps" in the night made this place hard to work. This place was built in 1917, a Coal Powered plant. I had nightmares working that job, the place was so massive, 4 stories under ground and 5 up, no lights save for some power we hooked up for the office area we were in. Massive turbine bays with railroad tracks going inside. Storms coming off Lake Erie would have that place howling JUST LIKE a scare movie, doors blew open randomly from high winds, snow up to the 2nd story, even the main pipe from the lake broke and flooded 3 stories...

Hey Adam! I have lived my whole life near the abandoned Apple Valley house you visited. Be VERY careful in the high desert or any area in Riverside and San Bernardino County. People are crazy out here and I don't doubt many people have disappeared. We explore the desert and are always carrying protection. Dude, at least get some bear spray or a shotgun and make sure your gas tank is full. People dont move out that far for no reason!

same as Australia (see wolf creek ) desert dwellers need to be treated with a wide berth and respect -because of so many crazy reasons not least if all they can make you disappear - or take you pig hunting against your will )yep heard stories of that ) but there are just as many amazing people that live in the desert !

Glad everything worked out could of gone way south! But there's an old WWII Bunker on the beach in Cape May NJ where I'm from, and one time me my boyfriend and his friend went to see the bunker, bc it's cool and anyone can see it, and like 10yrs ago or so you could actually go inside and see the bunker, but of course it was off limits, so if you had the guts to go in and take a risk you could see in it. And as a kid my mom went inside all the time with her friends, very creepy she said. But today, all entrances into the bunker are cemented shut, still a very cool place to visit.. Anyway we all went to the bunker to show my boyfriends friend it, and then his friend decided to jump on it and go to the top of it, yea big no no. Many people have done it, mostly during the winter when no one is around, when beach patrol/ rangers aren't on duty. But he went up there after the big rush of summer was over and during sunset, and then out of nowhere the rangers came out telling him to get off of the bunker! We told him many times but he didn't listen, but he did listen to the rangers lol but like I said people still continue to climb to the top of the bunker, and from what I understand its pretty neat up there, but I never did it, always afraid. Lol There's also a report of an old soldier that stands on top of the bunker, I've actually seen him before. It's crazy. No lie! Well if you ever get to come to cape may, it's full of history and structures.. Don't forget to stop by the bunker and WWII look out tower! Which u can go inside of!

I'm assuming that the cops are using the place as some kind of training thing and most likely one of them knew who you were, had a couple pictures from up there and decided to share them with you since you weren't allowed in. Or possibly it was just a nice officer who was impressed that you guys were nice and asked permission and just donated a couple of photos they happened to have on them.

Let me tell you, I once got my self arrested in a protest in Venezuela "just to see what happened". Ended up sleeping in the fortress where the national guard is, then taken to court next day in handcuff and stayed in a cell, my fingerprints taken. While I was being taken around the court house... I saw a few girls I used to flirt a few years before, they were lawyers. At the end of the day I was set free for lack of evidence. But let me tell you... it was the best experience of my life. I saw the national guard beating other guys really bad, I saw so many thing and I was not touched. I was protesting against Hugo Chavez. But because I was respectful they just didn't discharged their anger against me.

It is actually great you made this video. Since I do photography and love abandoned places. Though what a lot of people don't get is that even if it is abandoned, ask around and do tons of research. Even if no one lives or owns it, there might have been crazy stuff happening on site and you can get blamed if there is nothing else to attach the blame to. That is why I always carry a business card and sample photos on me if I see someone. As well as I do research on any person or place I plan to go to. So, I will not make a mistake I will regret.

I am glad that the two papers you held up were just photo's, at first when you only showed the white backs I thought oh crap those are long range Scope target practice cards. I think the cops just go out there for there training so they can fire there weapons with out worrying about hurting anyone. The old guy just wanted you to stay a way and stay safe so had his friend put the photos on your van so you would know that guns were used on the property.

Absolutely exceptional advice Adam. I myself am an Urban Explorer as well, long time Fan and viewer of your work. I'm not one to post it on social media nor do i have a desire to put it on youtube. I admire those that do, like Yourself, as well as Dan Bell, the Proper People. I appreciate what they do, however for myself I just enjoy seeing abandoned places, it's like a guilty pleasure if you will. If i go to an abandoned Military site, I can see Soldiers in my mind's eye marching or laughing, telling jokes, or if it's an abandoned theme park I can see families being happy, people laughing, the sounds the smells and everything comes to mind. It's almost like a semi time travel thing, especially if you see things that are dated now, i.e. cassette tapes, VHS Tapes, old Telephones, old Magazine dates. Yes, there is a frighteningly real aspect to urban exploring to which, it can be extremely dangerous. Loose floorboards, sketchy areas, people who abuse drugs that decide to live in an abandoned place. I recently explored an old fire station that's well over 16 years abandoned, and as I (along with a buddy of mine) began to notice, food, drinks, and "Adult Magazines" dated pretty recently. Luckily we did not run into anyone there, but the thought always lingers in the back of your mind when you go to these sort of places. I'm just glad, You and Justin are safe, and that Old Timer was there as well. Great Vlog Adam, I enjoyed it, and again Sir, great advice too. And to all you Urban Explorers or would-be Explorers, share this with your friends and take Adam's words to heart.

Yes true, it is always good to have professional cameras with you when attempting to explore an abandoned place but some people maybe can't afford those kind of expensive cameras like myself. I only have my smartphone to use which for me is good enough but I'll soon get a GoPro to use also, and sometimes cops do use claim abandoned places to use for their training unfortunately.

I had a car park in the middle of the road for several minutes to stare at me as I was parked by an abandoned bridge. With no other traffic on the road they sat for nearly 3 minutes with their turn signal on in front of their driveway refusing to turn. I finally decided to pull out the camera and film from behind the relative safety of my tinted windows. They never returned to confront me.

See this is why I leave the exploration to the likes of your self lol :D I get really nervous and paranoid if I'm somewhere where I feel I shouldn't be. I love visiting old WWII airfields (there are a lot where I'm from), they are all privately owned but some are most accessible than others (some are still RAF most are farm land); and only once have I been stopped by the land owner but once was enough lol, and to his credit he was really nice about it and explained why he didn't want people on the land but said we could finish taking photos then please leave, which we did. In our case he was protecting his straw bails as he'd had vandals set fire to them in previous years which cost thousands of pounds worth of damage; which is appalling and totally understandable that he didn't want people wandering over his land.

I totally understand how it is when you go out and find something in the middle of nowhere and when you are exploring you hear a vehicle pull up outside. Things go through your head, is it the property owner? Is it the Sheriff? Or out here south of Phoenix it could be a stash house with a hidden cache of contraband hidden inside the wall perhaps. I have came across people on foot out target shooting south of Interstate 8 who thought I was the police when I had my white Isuzu Trooper and I immediately felt over my head because I had stumbled into some people waiting for their ride and I was not it. I heed your warning and furthermore, I can validate it!

#RealTalk with AtW. Seriously, I really appreciate this- it's easy to watch the videos out there and see the fun of exploring, but sometimes you just gotta be warned. More scary for me to think about- going into somewhere that's become unsound and getting trapped or hurt and having no way to get help. Research is key! I did laugh out loud at your description of the old dude. I agree that he was just trying to warn you as opposed to threatening. Any old dude that could take Charles Bronson doesn't need to threaten.

As others have said, it sounds like the place is being used as a police firing range, or for some type of related training. Regarding abandoned places, I shoot them from the road or other public property. With very few exceptions I don't enter abandoned places. If something is posted I won't trespass. Anyway, this video came up in my recommendations so I watched it. I enjoy your videos. Thanks.

Sounds like something out at the Salton Sea for some reason, but I'm only about 4 minutes into this story.

Every time I could've gone to jail, I was too drunk to give a shit anyway. I'd just have some good jail sleep.

what it most likely is a place the police use for urban training. the EXACT same thing happened to me at the tennessee state pen ("the green mile prison"---no longer in use, obvi, but looks amazing) and i got run off because the police have carte blanche there for shooting and urban training. you can go there and get shot if they are shooting training and there is NO warning. in your pics u can see chairs and all their gear on the ground...wouldn't be like that unless they were training. i would bet the big old tuff guy makes a nice rent check from the authorities for using his place as a training ground...which would also explain him wanting to protect it also be a little vague about its use

Hey Adam, I have a friend who lives out in the Anza desert and she tells me there are meth labs all over, she can even smell them when they are cooking, needless to say her husband packs, so be really careful in those areas, they move the labs all the time too....
