Adam actually visited the smaller of the Jungle Jims markets. The larger location is in Fairfield, Ohio and it's about the size of two/three Walmart Supercenters.

White Castle's..... The holes in the burger. The joke is that the holes are where they used the shotgun on the rat. Seriously, since they are steamed on a bed of cooked onions they can cook them in about 40% faster than if it was a solid piece of meat, since it cooks from the area exposed to the steam inward and the holes reduce the max distance, so they cook much faster and also means they don't have to flip them but they are still cooked through and they are square to use every inch of space on the grill. It allows one person cooking burgers to do nothing but cook burgers the entire time with a 90 second break in between cycles (after they put the buns atop the burgers) They actually cook an entire set of burgers from start to finish (including boxing/bagging) in just under 5 minutes. They also don't add starch filler to the burgers unlike a place that has a crown in the lobby. Pretty much the only difference between the microwave ones and the ones bought in the store is the microwave ones don't have pickles. If you take a damp paper towel and drape it over top of the burgers on a plate you'll have the same consistency as from the store.

From an info site about these "vaults" Beginning in the 1850s, sidewalk vault lights became a common feature amidst the burgeoning manufacturing districts of America's urban streetscapes. These cast-iron panels, fitted with clear glass lenses, were set into the sidewalk in front of building storefronts. They permitted daylight to reach otherwise dark basements (or "vaults") that extended out beneath the sidewalks, creating more useable or rentable space for building owners. Each panel was screwed to a castiron saddle and the iron framework that spanned the basement vault. They were cast with molded iron knobs around each lens to protect theglass and improve the footing of passers-by.

Hello! The tamarind, or tamarindo in Spanish, is used to make either candy or water. You boil the tamarind and once it's cooked you put it in a blender with sugar and water, mix well, and there you go! Agua de tamarindo (tamarind water) you can add ice and it is very refreshing.

As usual your video was great! If I may make a suggestion concerning your voice, try gargling with a warm water and table salt (NOT too much salt! Just a tea spoon in a drinking glass of warm water). Give it a try about three to four times a day for about three days and I think you will feel much better. It's an old "down home" remedy that I grew up with in what was then a very rural area of South Carolina and it worked nicely. I'm almost 62 and It still works when the need arises. Keep up the excellent "on the road" videos as they are the best!

+Karen Lindsey it's not 100% beef just like other places. buns are soggy grease... grease upsets stomachs. I think they add egg to their recipe. .... I only say this on texture and my own experiences making new meat loaf recipes if I had a tad too much egg... bathroom trips afterwards. for many it's a great tasting burger, if you are not use to regular top notch burgers, but most discover it a laxative experience unless eaten often. Crystal burgers took me straight to bathroom too, however their burgers are different and less soggy.

I was excited to see the glass "jewel" encrusted grate!!! When it was installed (before 1914) the glass was clear and let light into the basement below. Prior to 1914 Potassium per manganese was used as the CLARIFIER which when exposed to UV light begins to turn purple. Different clarifiers make their own color. With the onset of WW1 all of the Potassium per manganese was needed for the war effort. How deep the colors get depends on the amount of clarifiers and exposure to UV light. Lots of people collect purple glass and I'm one of them!!! I know you like to know what you're talking about pertaining to architecture and construction materials. FYI The holes in the white castle burger are not to save meat, they are there to steam the burger on the hotplate quickly. And if you really want to enjoy a slider the right way the secret way of cooking them is to ask the server to steam your burgers and then they'll put them in a separate steamer afterwords and it's so much better.

Dude, someone sent you to the lesser Jungle Jim's. The larger location is not far from the Cincinnati Mall (Forest Fair) where you were for 1490. The mall had an amusement park inside back in the day. Roller Coaster, full size ferris wheel, several smaller rides and such. Don't know if anything from the mall rides is at Jungle Jim's. I've heard their stuff mostly came from the old Americana Park with some from Kings Island. Anyway, if you come around central Ohio, and want some info from a local, feel free to contact me.

The holes In White Castle burgers are NOT to cut cost on meat. they're to allow the patty to properly steam, which is how they are cooked.

My classmates and i were lucky enough to see Kim Peek, the inspiration for rain man at a school assembly back in '90, or '91. About twenty students told him their names and addresses and he knew their phone numbers! Something i'll never forget! He seemed like a very kind man.

The reason why white castle has the holes in the burger is because it allows the burger to cook alot faster, allowing heat to rise through

The holes in the White Castle burgers are to allow the onion to permeate the meat, and to steam the patty evenly.

You think this store is big and has amazing sites, the Jungle Jim's store in Fairfield Ohio, a northern suburb of the Cincinnati area is twice as big as the one you showed which is the original one. Hope you had your windows open after eating at White Castle's, which tends to stir up one's intestinal system.

There is a restaurant, The Hearthstone, in Metamora Indiana (about 45 min - an hour) from jungle jims. Part of Rain Man was also filmed there, when they stayed in the small cabin. The restaurant has cabins behind it. There's also a great newspaper article about the movie inside the front door. It's only open on weekends though

When you were at Jungle Jims, you were in Union Township of Clermont County were I live. It is also the home of the Cincinnati Nature Center, the largest Nature Center in the United States with over 10,000 members and we also have the country's only water tower that is also fully functional fire station. If you ever make it back, I hope you will get a chance to show these places in one of your videos.

The holes in the White Castle let them cook quickly and evenly. They get even distribution of heat instead of cooking from the outside in to the middle like regular burgers.
