Its our struggle against blinding attraction of love, life and work at first sight, that we blindlessly follow what we see first without thinking or feeling. That no matter how far you go or fall, the sight is always pulling you back. One of my favorites along with dear john and number eleven. Embrace things at first sight yet look at them from a distance.

Promise the lake Don't try, don't be Exist just like me Promise shame Every bit of everything is screaming so quietly Is there anything else to say? Are there any more words to sing? Right after doubting all the things you claim Right before giving all of it away I thought I was ready to write but you had me years ago You had me at first sight even if it means nothing now Promise these hands No more empty praise and worship Get lost at first sight I'm driving my car away I'm heading north I thought I was ready to write but you had me years ago You had me at first sight even if it means nothing now It hurts most in the mornings and I wish I was in Chicago Their statements are all contradictions and I don't think they can figure it out All our damages transform us We're like our own historians Is there anything else to say? Are there anymore words to sing? Every bit of everything is screaming Promise the lake Get lost at first sight

There's actually an interview where they said that the logo doesn't mean anything. They basically made the logo because writing "The Devil Wears Prada" on shirts and stuff was long and obnoxious (don't quote me) but they just needed a way to physically identify themselves using something more subtle

I don't really understand why everyone complain about how generic metalcore can be , c'mun Metalcore isn't more generic than Thrash Metal or Death Metal or any other kind of metal , each kind have generic band ! If you don't like a certain genre , it's normal that you thought that this genre is fucking generic .... Listen what you want but don't forget that the music you like can be fucking generic for someone else , so stop with the generic everywhere ;)

I adore these guys, they sure DO put a lot more focus in making music and music videos than other bands do. It's not a usual cliche metalcore video and that what makes me even more proud of them. It's the level where music becomes pure art and personality expression.
@Scowder10 жыл бұрын
Satanic? Are you people blind? The video portrays a man searching for something (presumably the meaning of life, but I don't really know). He struggles and appears to be bound by the eye of society which attempts to control his thoughts. When he finally gives in to God's love and grace, everything appears small and insignificant. This is finally juxtaposed to the man who doesn't accept God and spends his entire life searching for what's not there. The song is about accepting God's grace and mercy. But yeah, that's totally a functioning element of satanic worship, right?

@hernanhironymus10 жыл бұрын
By all of their "Eye" and mystic connotation in their videos. Lets set aside the whole Illuminati debate, any christian band would not affiliate or display suchsymbols/themes. At least any real "christian" bands. All im saying is that TDWP is no longer tdwp we once knew or even looked up to for their beliefs like i did.
@philgecko10 жыл бұрын
Hernan Hironymus yeah ok i get your point, i know a lot on the ''christian'' subject since i was born and raised in a ''baptist'' family, im glad i grew a mind and ''got out of it'', but what i mean is, i think the members of tdwp will always be christians, and for them its not evil displaying mystic signs, cause i think they thought of a christian meaning to put behind them, anyfuckingwaaaaaayy man. their good times are long passed. peace my friend!

I may be getting a bit superstitious, but their logo is a triangle and an eye traps and pulls him into it, where you next see him swallowed by a mouth suggesting his speech is gone. Later on you see in the book him running from something, then the book closes and multiple eyes run out, maybe he was running from the eye i don't know. I hope this band hasn't got illuminate on us.
@Lucols411 жыл бұрын
relax man, the symbols are just for artistic purposes. It's the same deal with the Parper Lungs video by Underoath

SOMETHING IS UP. This video is obviously about author Stieg Larsson. Larsson was a left-wing supporter, against hierarchy, and supported equality BUT an organization went after him and he went into hiding. That book in the video, it's HIS. I did a lot of research, so trust me, I KNOW. And this video is ANTI-masonic. "I thought I was ready to leap on you, but you had me years ago, you had me at first sight." The eye in the background, the one that pulls him in, is a symbol of that organization. An 'all-seeing eye.' Usually, it's depicted with an UPRIGHT triangle around it. THIS BAND'S logo is DIFFERENT. IT REPRESENTS THE HOLY TRINITY. AND IF YOU PUT THE TWO TOGETHER, YOU GET THE STAR OF DAVID! IT MEANS SOMETHING!!!

i think its a mixture of both when Mike does anything off Zombie EP, Roots, Plagues etc he is more winded and hes his highs dont quite have the punch as they used to but he can still get through the songs with the same vocal tone if he wanted to go into a studio and do his vox from 4 years ago he probally could just with a slighty weaker voice he has he probally decided to mix things up so he can give better live performances.

You obviously need to pay more attention to their lyrics. The whole dead throne album is about idolatry, hence the symbol in the video which represents this "dead throne" idol. TDWP members are just as human as you or myself, sin and all. If you are interested in a song about false prophets, you should look up Impending Doom's - Deceiver.
