The story I remember being told about Rongokako, is the race between him and Paoa for Mururangawhenua, which started in Turanganui a kiwa. And this story explains the giant footprints that the EC Maori are the care takers of, so i have concerns about where u sourced ur research from for this, and yeah I'm aware that as many have their own versions since these stories have been around for many yrs... so js
