OMG Thanks for the tip. I am always running my dies thru my sizzix up to six times.

Thank you sooo much!!! I bought the plate and every cut is perfect. I did not even have to roll it through more than once. I am buying one for my friend. I was returning thinlet dies because they did not cut. I have the Cuttlebug. Now I will revisit those returns.

i'm a beginner so not clear to me if using the metal shim do I use plastic plate on platform or just put shim on platform then die, paper and plastic plate in other words are you using both plastic plates or just one? thanks

Looks like I need that shim asap! Thank you for showing how it works. Tip for the sharp edges: carefully use a very gritty sanding block or a nail file to take the sharp edge off. Gloves would be a good idea while you work... Or you might suggest to the manufacturer that they do deburring (I used to do work doing that in aerospace & had a deburring tool that I ran along the edge of airplane parts, to knock that sharpness off. It was rather quick to do with the right tool.) Just thought I'd mention it in case it's helpful. :)

Thanks for your comment Mel! We'll be sure to ask about deburring the metal shims so that we can all wear a few less band-aids. Happy crafting!

Hi Delune, thanks for your question. We have not tested our shim with the Sizzix Sizzlits so I hesitate to say that it will resolve your issue. I can say that the shim is most helpful particularly when using intricate dies on the Cuttlebug and Big Shot, so if you're using either of those machines then the shim may be the fix. If you would like to try the shim, please email me at support [at] tayloredexpressions . com. and I'll be happy to work with you further on obtaining a shim. Thanks!

Hi Christy, You can get the metal shim at the Taylored Expressions store (tayloredexpressions . com). I can't leave a direct link in the comments here but if you search Metal Adapter Shim you'll find it! It's $11.95.

Thank you for sharing this ! I wanna start using my Big Shot and try my hand at cardmaking. I often saw cardmaking tutorials here on KZbin using this Metal Shim and always wondered what's a Metal Shim and is it necessary to have. Glad to see that it is a great tool to have. Will definitely add it to my Wish List. Would a piece of sheet metal from a hardware store work as a Metal Shim alternative ?
