My Doc has me on restasis 2x and now sold me a 50% tea tree solution to apply under and and over the eye lashes for dry eyes. She told me this was to help remove excess oil. This is the first I've heard of doing this.

Tea tree oil is commonly used. 50% is pretty strong. The wipes and foaming cleansers I recommend around the eye are much less concentrated than that. My demodex video goes over different options for cleansing the biofilm that can occur on the eyelids. I also have a microblepharoexfoliation (eyelid cleansing) video coming out on Wednesday!

I too was advised to use tea tree oil & restasis. I pay out of pocket for tea tree wipes that come from a company in AL that works with ophthalmologists. 30 wipes are 30-something dollars but I cut each one in half making them last 60 days. The restasis was prescribed (in my case) 1 drop 4x's a day. It's all a pain but beats dry eye!

@@EyeSchoolwithDrDHello. I feel like common sense is strongly telling me that tea tree oil wipes would leave the harmful substance in them to sit on the eyelid skin for an unknown amount of time, leaving it to possibly wreak it's havoc on meibomian glands destroying them over time slowly, despite what you said. So I'm very curious how can you still justify recommending them to patients, is there an aspect of this where my common sense has failed me? 😅

Tea tree eye wipes really helps my blepharitis. I used cliradex for a few months, now I use Optase tea tree wipes for a 3 or 4 years No issues. Just eyes that feel more comfortable. I'm not going to stop using them that's for sure. The heat masks made my eyes so much worse for some reason.

Excellent info and interpretation. Plus this video highlights a huge problem in this info age!. To whit it has become imcreasingly difficult for medical practitioners to keep up with research findings. My endocrinologist, for instance, was not aware of the establishment of new TSH standards almost 10 years after they were changed by the endocrinology society!

had a wart growing on my lower eye lid in the eye lashes, used tea tree oil applied below the lashes undiluted, layed down and let the oil migrate to the lashes, yes it did burn and make my eye water alot, the stinging subsided. the next morning that one eye felt so much better then the other one or should i say clean and refresh. that night i did both eyes, blinking made the stinging less intense. i did maybe one or two more treatments and the wart was gone. this was 3 months ago and have had no negative affects to my eyes. in my line of work i deal with alot of nasty dust and always wear a respirator but nothing more then a pair of safety glasses. i do not recommend undiluted, do your own home work. essential oils have saved me $$$,$$$ in medical bills.

I'm using Cliradex and I also wash my lids with baby shampoo first. It seems to be working OK. I decided to make my own with 1/4 tsp. tea tree oil, 1 tsp. baby shampoo and 3 tablespoons water with a little on a cotton pad. It burned more than the Cliradex, but my eylid margin seems to be cleaner and less debris on my lash margin. I'll try with cotton swab (q-tip) to see if that burns less.

Hello, I didn’t know I was allergic to tee tree oil in an eye wipe I bought from the chemist. Instructions said u can leave it on. Wat a mistake. My eye lids swell and with redness. So I put alot of cold water compresses on it. Then came on a meibomian cyst I was told in left eye lid. Tried cold water compresses to bring down allergic reaction then heated ones with gentle massage afterwards but not to over do the heated and massage. Left eye lid cyst has gone smaller but now there’s a cyst in the right eye lid, so dealing with that at mo. I was also given an antihistamine for the allergy but I was dizzy and my face throat swell so had to stop it!

Interesting video. Are you saying TTO is for clogged glands? Or just for these parasites?
@EyeSchoolwithDrD
@EyeSchoolwithDrD 3 жыл бұрын
TTO doesn't unclog the glands. We use techniques like external heat + expression (TearCare, iLux, Lipiflow for example) or light therapy (IPL, LLLT) as in office procedures. At home, heat + eyelid massage help to unclog the glands. The purpose of TTO is to kill demodex mites and reduce bacterial load at the lid margin. Having demodex and a biofilm on the lid margin impacts how the meibomian glands function and can lead to that clogging. But the TTO is not going to unclog the glands itself.

@EyeSchoolwithDrD
@EyeSchoolwithDrD 3 жыл бұрын
Of course! Sometimes it takes me awhile because I batch film about 2 months ahead of time. Rosacea responds well to doxycycline, IPL, warm compresses with lid massage, along with external heat therapy + expression (tear care/lipiflow/ilux). Moisture glasses can help symptoms. Night gel helpful if sleeping with a CPAP, have incomplete lid closure , or a lot of staining in the am. definitely both are worth a try!

Also, he did confirm eyelash mites which I don't know it there is a direct correlation between the two MGD and mites (Demodex)? Any suggestions? Can you recommend a doctor in my area?

I know this has nothing to do with tea tree oil but I just watched your other video on retina a when I used retina a prescription and made sure I didn’t put it around my eyes I used it once or twice a week it still migrated in my eyes somehow and caused dry eye irritation it went away but I was to scared to use it again even after dermatologist gave me the lowest dose and said to not put it on right before bed are there safer alternatives I’m not sure if over the counter retinol is safer so I have been to scared to try them but want the anti aging benefits but the safety of my eyes are important to me too
@EyeSchoolwithDrD
@EyeSchoolwithDrD 3 жыл бұрын
This is a tough call. As you've experienced, retinol tends to migrate even if not expressly applied around the eyes it tends to find its way there. Depending on your skincare goals you can look at other ways to stimulate collagen like LED therapy/Red Light therapy, IPL, etc. I personally do not use retinol in favor of these other therapies at this time. I'm honestly still learning about skincare around the eyes as this is not something we're taught in school. But I will definitely share on this channel as I continue to learn!

@EyeSchoolwithDrD
@EyeSchoolwithDrD 3 жыл бұрын
Oral doxycycline inhibits matrix metalloproteinases that degrade connective tissue. It also helps stabilize the tear film through its effects on the meibomian glands. So...yes in the case of neuropathic pain it is one of the treatments that can be tried. along with traditional dry eye therapy, inflammatory control, amniotic drops it could be useful. Also, look at oxervate, a new drop.

@eaglec.8865
@eaglec.8865 3 жыл бұрын
Great. Things patients want to know likely: if you do upper lids too, whole face? expression afterwards? w/BlephEx? Which machine you use, M22/Lumenis? IPL is the most effective/safe tool - kill demodex, reduce inflammation, etc. Maybe IPL + iLux generate the best result? Supporting studies: people can easily find that by themselves, I think.
