Visionary of you. I like that you put the wallpaper on the bottom shelf of the cart. It draws the eye downwards and the details (painted wheels and gilded carvings) pop out; it adds a dimension to the cart.

It’s lovely. I have a bit of a thing for tea trollies. They are really fun pieces to work on. You can do so much with them. And I love decoupage. From the point of view of decoupage, I would be more likely to apply around 5 coats of the protective finish. You won’t be able to feel the edge of the paper as such because you sat it inside a channeled detail. But if the surface was flat, you should apply enough coats to remove the feel of the edge of the paper completely. It gives a lovely feeling and look to the piece and even better protection. Most people would have thrown that in a skip. You transformed it. I love your videos.

I would never have thought of using wallpaper, but it worked just perfectly. This would be my cart for the patio/sunroom in the summer to serve drinks with little umbrellas. Daisy is quite the darling. She looked like she wanted you to put down the camera and play with her. She's become your mascot for the channel. What's lovely about this is that it is still very much a 1950s piece, just now it is a high end 1950s piece. From my Aunties drinks cart to the drinks cart brought in by my RICH aunties "help" in her suburban wonderland home. Everyone would have gone back home after the visit and talked about how fancy everything was! wonderland

Excellent. I love it. You couldn’t have chosen a better paper for it either. It even has a Leadbeater Cockatoo on it. Beautiful parrots. I have three cockatoos myself but they are all Great White Cockatoos. They really are wonderful birds even if they’re labour intensive.

We dont have any birds but my wife absolutely loves watching the funny bird channels, especially the African Greys. Just found this channel & I think it’s the best furniture restore channel going, as you do exactly that. Most of the others just cover every thing in paint. I picked up one tip re restore metal work which gave me the confidence to try & used it to restore some handles on a chest. Thank you.

With the screws on each end of the broomstick handle, after painting, you could use a couple clamps to hold it up on "legs" to dry evenly....

David is my son Kathy and at times when he tells me what he is doing with a piece I sometimes thing why would he bother. Either because it is too damaged or because it’s not a nice piece. From what you started with, the end result is absolutely ravishing! I love your attention to detail, it always makes for a more professional looking product. The paper almost seems to have been made especially for this application. My only thought to change would to have added some of the paper to the sides of the table top on those insets (with just the leaves and some of the gold pattern) to tie them in a bit more. Although, maybe that would have been too much? I tend to err on the side of overdoing, so I could be wrong? In any case, congratulations on another piece brought back to life to be loved again! Excellent. Very elegant. Is the wax you used okay to use on furniture not being restored,ie.a dining room suite etc. I like the finished appearance.

Hi Laurie, I use it on painted and unpainted surfaces and it works great. It does take 30 days to FULLY cure though so you have to go easy on the surface before that. Personally i wouldn't use Wax on a dining table surface though, it gets a lot of use, potential spills and differing heat so it would be better finished with a harder wearing topcoat which is why I used PolyAcrylic on the top of this Bar Cart and wax for the rest. Hope this helps.😃
