As of Emacs 28, you can now set lock-file-transforms (similar to auto-save-file-name-transforms) to move the lock files.

Thanks, this was something I was really interested in as backups clutter my folders and get really annoying but I didn't really have the time to research it on my own. It was a great video!! Also can't wait for the video on improving emacs startup time as it does take me a good few seconds to load up my Emacs config. I dont mind too much as I usually open Emacs once when I start my pc and then just keep it open but I wouldn't mind improving it. All this emacs content is awesome, thanks a lot for it!!

Thanks so much. These stupid temporary files will change the modified date of directories which can (and will) trigger unnecessary rebuilds with GNU Make. It took me forever to figure out why my entire freaking project was rebuilding every time I changed a file...

As of unreleased Emacs 30, auto-save-file-name-transforms is now changed to lock-file-name-transforms. Just a heads up for anyone visiting this video with Emacs 30

Thanks for this video but unfortunately it doesn't work on my emacs. Files appear in the same folder than before. Any idea?

Thanks a lot, the creation of "file~" is very annoying. :D
