He is embracing dance and using it to benefit the students and its working. They are eager to do what needs to be done ( classwork) with excitement. If he were teaching a class full of older folks I would totally agree with what you are saying.

I still think of gangstas paradise to this day & idkw. Prob bc this lady at church looks like the teacher & im still dorky enough to say Coolio. Or that some movies today still have a we actually can co exist w/ each other. But somexs that really is just a more black & white thing. But it must be hard to teach older kids. Especially ppl w/ different backgrounds. My kids mixed but still has white ppl jokes. her white teachers laugh w/ her. I admire their determination tho. And I still think teachers should get paid more than athletes. I liked my history teacher. :/ he was a coach. His wife did cheerleading. Poor dude had all the patience to put up w/ my somewhat defiant somewhat disruptive self

I had a microbiology teacher that was great. He'd dress up before class as a different virus or bacteria. For the "plague", he dressed up like the Grim Reaper. Sadly, as I graduated from his class and moved on to other classes...I never got a chance to tell him about the positive impact he had on me.

My 12th grade history teacher didn't dress up himself, but helped us dress up and put on little acts for our assignments which made me live history even more. That made me decide to get a BA in Secondary Social Studies Ed. I decided later I'm better at working with the younger kids, but I still use that knowledge when subbing in a class with a history lesson that day. I love being able to add in a little extra fun fact that's not in their book since I had such great professors in college as well. I also let kids act out stories as I'm reading them to the class. It's a lot of fun for them and me 😃

@@marys2035 Hi Mary, I love this educational experience you had. The teachers who are innovative, creative, and who truly love educating students are always the most admired and most effective. I come from long line of teachers. When my 97 year old grandmother passed, many of her students, some in their 70s, attended her funeral describing how positively she impacted their lives. At my mom's funeral, a 60+ year old came in and all he said was "in 7 years the school system couldn't teach me to read. Your Mom had me reading in 6 weeks. Because of her I became a successful businessman." Good teachers are so impactful!! Love your positive story!!!🙏❣

I did this with a then 3rd grade student in Southern CA. He had ADHD and learning disabilities and I was making up missed days by subbing for the resource teacher when I was "off-track." I couldn't get the boy to complete assignments. I learned he liked rap and told him he could rap for the small group if he finished work. It worked! He became so compliant and happy to see me. *He sang me the most beautiful and sweet rap song about ME before my assignment was over,* ❤😭 I asked him to write it down but he hated writing and never got to it. I'd kill to have that song. It was very moving and touching. I hope that kid made something of his life. 🙏

I've always believed that teachers have to be so much more than a teacher. To form a kinship with students is an inspiring thing.mThis gives me hope. 🙏

FINALLY!!! After seeing all these videos of "educators" teaching children everything but what they should be teaching them, seeing this video gives me hope for the education system yet... Thank you Dr Boffone! Keep up the good work!👍💯👍

If these teachers were like this in my day, I would of graduated on time. Great teachers are around now and figured out how to motivate their students to do their work and in a timely fashion. Genius!

There's nothing genius about focusing on fun over learning. Every moment spent practicing dance moves is time wasted. "Oppressed minority" students in many schools now are so illiterate and intellectually inept there isn't one student in the entire school that reads at grade level or can do basic math proficiently. Teachers aren't the kids' friends, they're there to impart as much knowledge as possible in the shortest amount of time possible, that is their purpose. Not to have fun and joke around and dance around and be the kids' homie. Everything about this is dumb af!

Personally I love the relationship teachers and students build, that's probably one of the reasons I got into teaching in the first place. If teachers are able to build that good relationship and get along with all of the students, the students will not only respect you so much but learn so much from you. He's doing an excellent job!

Wow this is so awesome!!! So love this teacher/student bond!!! I didn't want the interview to end. To hear the student say she wants to learn because of him is outstanding!!! He's so amazing for taking the time to reach out to his students in such a way they could connect and relate, build trust and bond. If only there were more teachers willing to do the same. 🙏❤💯

I understand completely what has happened, you’ve made a bond beyond the classroom or education. You showed you care about them and their interests. You’ve gained their respect outside of education. I too was a high school teacher and involved in my students outside of school. It made for a great experience. I’m retired now and think fondly of my kids. Btw the girl with the “red” hair is beautiful!
