That was just the biggest calibre. It managed to pierce a subterranean ammo depot, some 50m deep or so. And that went boom pretty big. There were several other such guns. Mostly lower calibre but longer barrels and longer reach. One fired on paris, one fired at britain from the main land side of the channel.

Hitler had a love for weapons that showed superior strength, like this gun and the ridiculous huge tanks he wanted to build. He wasnt a good practical thinker, his preferred blitzkrieg tactics relied on manouverability, and they lacked time and resources to do it all at the same time.
